Saturday Morning-last day of February

Well it was a sleepless night in Seminole for me as that molar that I had crowned went south and in a big way. I did learn one thing when having a major procedure done on a tooth is to never have the work done when the dentist office is closed for the next three days. It's been at times a throbbing painful experience. I'm sure I will need a root canal come Monday morning or else an oral surgeon to extract this molar. Never would I have thought this could go bad so fast, oh well.

I actually thought about pickle ball Friday morning as the pain wasn't that intense and I did get some sleep after midnight which a good dose of ibuprofen; as a matter of fact I didn't take any pain reliever until around 2 in the afternoon on Friday. I thought this is great and I will be back with only minimal pain which I can stand. Nancy thought it best to rest and skip the activity at the rec so I finished GRAY MOUNTAIN by Grisham. Wow great read. I gave it to GG to read as she had it on order from the library when she, Amy and the kiddos all came for a lunch of homemade vegetable beef soup. I played with Eliza and Sam and then layed around while Nancy did her walk through the hood and started a new read by Pelecanos.

I did head out to pick fresh sugar peas for supper of which Nancy once again had fresh asparagus and mushroom in a stir fry over Jasmine rice. That is one of our favorite's and it's rather soft so it would be nice for the tooth and gum area. I however never ate on that side of the jaw. Supper was delicious and after the cleanup we settled in on the couch to watch FOX News. I found the Lightning hockey game so I hit the showers and then tuned in to see Tampa beat up on the Chicago team. I flipped a little between the Gold Rush show and the game and must have fallen asleep as Nancy awakened me sometime before midnight.

Well at 2 AM this morning I was awakened by some very strong throbbing pain on the left side of my face and headed out to take a small dose of ibuprofen which didn't seem to make any difference so at 6'ish I took an even larger dose and that has finally taken the edge off of the throbbing pain. I'm at a loss of what to do about this tooth but I can't live this way. I have a couple grand already invested in the tooth and if it needs a root canal that's another grand and then there is always the possibility it may need pulled which is another several hundred, yikes!!! I'm beginning to wonder if I really need all of these molars to eat; maybe I would lose some weight if I didn't eat so much, oh well!!

Tomorrow Sunday we are celebrating Nancy's birthday at GG's with a family supper and are bringing Annsley and Gabe back to Seminole with us after church on Sunday so they can play with Ava and Sam and this evening we have a supper out planned with the Tracy's at a bistro on the beach and then card games afterwards. I sure hope this tooth stays calm and as of right now it has calmed down considerably, thankfully.

The past couple of days the skies has been overcast with cool temps. I've heard the heat come on several times during the night. The fore cast for next week is sunny skies and temps in the low 80's, yeah!! I'm ready for some warmer less humid weather, LATER

Update for Thursday

Well I decided to skip pickle ball today Friday due to some complications from the dental work I had on Thursday. Normally I write this blog first thing in the mornings each day before heading out to the rec for my 2 plus hour workout, but Nancy reminded me of the excruciating pain I was in last evening after supper which had me almost in tears for at least an hour or more. Finally the ibuprofen kicked in and I was at least comfortable until midnight when I took another dose which helped me get some sleep.

Thursday morning started with me rolling out the usual 6'ish despite not having to be at the dentist until 8:45. The morning was rather warm at 64 degrees and that was probably the warmest it got for most of the day as the afternoon saw clouds move in with a north breeze which quickly chilled the air down by night fall. Dr. Beirl, our dentist has just about replaced all of the amalgam filings from my younger years with crowns and does a superlative job as well but this molar has been keeping me in pain for the past couple days and when he removed the filing there was a crack in the center of the tooth. Well that led to some concern but he felt he was able to bond the crack with a filler and thus save the tooth from being extracted. Seems when the tooth cracks or splits completely in half there is no saving the tooth even with a root canal. Well he worked on me for a couple hours and made molds for the final gold crown and I headed home before lunch with a still numb jaw and lip. The nurse cautioned me about the influence of heat to the tooth area which would show a root canal may still be in order.

I suffered very little discomfort the rest of the day despite the cutting away of some of the gum until after supper. Nancy made a pot of homemade vegetable soup using cabbage, green beans, parsley and carrots from the garden and I noticed while eating the soup I began to experience some pain and then it became excruciating pain. I quickly downed a handful of ibuprofen which took about an hour to kick in and applied some cool water to the tooth area which seemed to somewhat ease the pain. The Dr. called to check up on me about 7:30 as he always does to his patients. He said give it a couple days before we see if a root canal is in order as he really worked that tooth and gum area over and if need be he will call me in a stronger pain killer. So far the ibuprofen is making life manageable and hopefully the pain will cease as the area heals.

Amy and the kiddos came for lunch and Eliza Faye crawled up on my lap for some video time. She is such a charmer with her smile and wrinkles her nose up when she is tickled. They headed out after 2 and then Nancy took off to do some shopping. GG and Nancy's cousins(Tom and Kathy) from Pa. came by for an unannounced visit as they had taken GG out to lunch to one of the many beach restaurants. They are GG's sister Daryl's son and wife who are renting a condo on Longboat Key for a couple of months. I loaded them up with lettuce and kale from the garden. Nancy just missed them as they left before she got back from shopping. I read the rest of the afternoon reading and have just about finished GRAY MOUNTAIN by Grisham. It's a very good read and will keep you on the edge of your seat for what will happen next and at the same time discuss you with the big business of coal strip mining in Appalachia and the effects on the land and those who live there.

After the clean up and getting the pain down to a manageable level we watched the Idol Show and the gals perform and honestly there wasn't a lot of talent there compared to the guys the night before. Only a few in my estimation should make the cut to carry on in the competition, oh well. I then tuned into the Alaskan shows after a hot shower and was soon out until midnight when Nancy decided to hit the sack and awakened me. The jaw was aching so I loaded up once again with some ibuprofen and then slept or rested through the night. It's a bit nippy outside this morning with temps down into the low 50's with overcast skies.

On a sad and unexpected note we received an email from one of our mountain top neighbors The Clines and they supposedly had their cute cabin sold and let the perspective buyer stay in it for a couple nights and with the unusual cold temps below zero the chimney caught on fire and did considerable damage to the wood burning stove and the room it was in. Needless to say the damage is somewhere around 30 K to the cabin and also the loss of the sale, LATER

Friday Morning

The internet just came back up after being down all night and all morning. I will update what happened on Thursday later on this day, LATER

Thursday Morning

Well Wednesday at times was very painful and quite uncomfortable but thanks to ibuprofen I got through the day and night and today or this morning I will hopefully feel the last of this ache in my tooth and jaw. There is nothing more aggravating than a toothache. I did manage to get to the rec for a couple hours of pickle ball which helped with taking my mind off the ache. My dentist guarantees he will work me in this morning for a crown on that cracked molar.

After my usual morning routines and at times with annoying pain I managed a few quiet moments despite the throb and a lite breakfast before pedaling out to the rec. The sea fog was back saturating the area with wetness and limiting visibility. It stayed that way for most of the day but at least it wasn't cold. The temps did drop a little as another front moved through the area and during the night it brought a little more rain.

After the workout and a wet shirt I stopped and picked up a new read by Grisham that I had on order for the last couple months titled GRAY MOUNTAIN. I got about a third of the way through it during the day and evening and its a good read with a visceral message about the coal company's in Appalachia. I then hand watered the gardens and picked sugar peas for supper. We weren't having any of the usual family for lunch so it was very quiet around the house and that was a good thing as the molar was very annoying and downright painful when the ibuprofen wore off. We had a salad for lunch then Nancy took off shopping for Sam's birthday which is the same day as hers. Next week he will be 5 and she will be 58, wow where did that time go?

We had fresh asparagus, fresh mushrooms and fresh garden sugar peas sauteed and put over Jasmine rice along with a pan seared sirloin steak for supper slathered with fresh rosemary yeow was that ever delicious. Tonight was house church but I didn't feel in the mood with the toothache to attend so I bowed out and cleaned the kitchen and washed the dishes. I vegetated again on the couch with a couple more pain relievers and settled into the FOX News channel until the Idol show came on at 8. There are some real talented guys this year in the competition and tonight(Thurs)we see the gals perform. We now a button on this new TV that allows you to go back and watch a show from the beginning despite it being completed and over with, just like taping it.

Well I headed for the showers and then read for awhile before it was lights out for me at 11, LATER

Wednesday Morning

Well Tuesday started out with that molar bothering me for most of the night before but I was able to maintain the ache with some ibuprofen until I met up with the dentist around mid morning. The x-rays showed some what appeared to be a cavity beneath the filing and some cracking in the tooth from all of the amalgam injected into the drilled out molar. I learned that's what happened 50 years ago when this form of dentistry was practiced. My dentist here couldn't work me in for a crown until Thursday morning, needless to say during the night the ibuprofen wore off and by this AM I was suffering until I could get another dose in me.

Tuesday found me pretty much with the usual routines after an early roll out. I did my quiet times and had a lite breakfast before getting ready for the rec. The temp's were in the high 60's to start the day but the fog was so heavy even the birds were sitting on the power lines and it stayed foggy and overcast  for most of the day. We maybe saw the sun all total an hour or so throughout the day. I headed out to the rec on my bike for an hour and half of pickle ball and got in a great workout despite at times a little jolt from the tooth especially when I leaned down to retrieve the ball. I hurried home to jump in the shower before heading out to the dentist. I actually thought they would work on me today but they just worked me in to decide what the problem was and how to correct it and how much it was going to cost, YIKES!!!

Nancy was surprised to see me back after being gone less than half an hour. I headed out to the garden to harvest lettuces, spinach, beet greens and kale for a huge salad for lunch. Amy, GG, Sam and Eliza were coming to eat as well. After lunch I headed into the reading room and little Eliza would come in from time to time and want to watch this one kid video she loves on the laptop. She would jabber and raise her arms for me to pick her up and then she would stand on the chair between my legs and laugh and clap her hands to the music on the video. She did this several times until it was time for them to pick up Ava at 3. I took GG with me to deliver her old TV cabinet at a thrift store then dropped her off at her house and to help with a few little projects that needed some attention.

I hand watered the gardens when I got home while Nancy did her workout walking through the hood and then I harvested some collards to accompany some fish sticks we were having for supper. After the clean up we settled into the Fox News channel for the rest of the evening until it was close to bedtime. I did get in a few chapters of a new read titled DISTRUBING THE PEACE by Richard Yates before lights out for me around 10:30, LATER

Tuesday Morning

Well Monday was shorts and short sleeves all day long. Finally the cold moved out of the area and none is forecasted for the entire next week. I can't imagine anymore real cold weather until next fall and soon I will be through with the hot, muggy temps which will envelope the area. I think its the humidity which is the biggest complaint of Florida weather. Anyhow the garden loves this weather as it stayed foggy for most of the morning and then again just before dark the sea fog rolled in again.

The day started much the typical for a week day as I rolled out around 6'ish. That molar is acting up again so it's time for another crown and hopefully not a root canal to accompany. I've manage to control the discomfort with ibuprofen but the old filing is close to 50 years in age and the tooth is starting to crack I'm sure. No longer will I be eating my favorite almonds as a snack as I think that is the culprit in causing the tooth to give way, oh well. It kept me awake at various times through out the night.

I headed out for pickle ball after my usual morning routines on my bike to the rec. We had 2 courts in action and the wet shirts were evident by 10 AM. I dropped off several reads at the library and then headed home to work outside in the garden. I picked a nice mess of 1/2 runner green beans, enough to give GG for supper and Nancy made a pot of new potato's with the beans as well and wow was that ever a delicious meal with a fresh garden salad to accompany. The beans are producing and are loaded with lots of blooms as well is all of the rest of the veggies. Nancy picked a nice mess of sugar peas for stir fry and to add to our fresh salads. I've pulled a few carrots that are showing some nice size and the flavor is fantastic with them as well. The salad tomato's are setting fruit as are the peppers but I'm not sure which peppers they are as I transplanted them from the compost pile at the cabin. I have a feeling they may be habaneros as  they aren't real large and are shaped somewhat like a bell pepper. Someone gave me some and I couldn't use them fast enough so I composted them and brought back a couple of the seedling, oh well!

Amy dropped Eliza Faye off while she grocery shopped with GG. She slept for nearly an hour as she is cutting more teeth and at times she isn't a happy camper especially when she hasn't napped. I remember teething was always the toughest stage for babies as they can't get comfortable. I'm sure its much like a toothache and I can attest to the discomfort at times as I'm experiencing the same discomfort. I cut another cabbage head and divided it between GG and Amy. The new lettuce seedlings are doing quite well and I will soon start to harvest from them towards the end of the week. I have a couple green tomato's the size of a baseball and they soon should start to show some color as the store bought ones are green house without much flavor.

I made a guacamole for lunch and I added some fresh thyme and wow was that ever delicious in taste I think I will add that from now on. I add fresh garlic minced up along with fresh minced sweet onion, cilantro from the garden, olive oil, salt&pepper and lime juice. Wow what a delicious dish and I put mine on a flour tortilla for a lunch along with a little lunch meat. That makes a healthy lunch without all of the calories. I'm still battling this spare tire but it does seem to deflate some before the weekend eating commences.

Nancy took GG to do her taxes and then I picked her up and we headed home after dropping GG's car off. It was close to 5 when we got back home. I picked up a new blind at Home Depot and replaced it as the strings had wore out on the other. Luckily it slid right into the old brackets so it was no major ordeal and then I headed out to hand water the garden while the sun was still shining. I can tell the days are really starting to increase in length and we should soon be going back to daylight saving time as well. After that delicious supper and clean up we settled into the Fox News channel and after the O'Reilly Factor I headed for the shower and then to read until lights out around 10:30, LATER

Monday Morning

Well Florida winter weather is back after a chilly week and a couple days of it being down right cold. It reached the 80's today and no humidity with bright sunshine and the fore cast is for more of this the rest of the week with a chance of some rain later in the week. We started the day as we usually do for a Sunday morning as we got ready to head to Tampa for worship at Element Church. The interstate was just packed with the heavy volume of vehicles with lots of out of state plates. I don't blame them for heading south with all of the snow, ice and sub zero temps from up north and especially the northeast section of the country. The mountains today got a reprieve of the zero temps and it warmed to the upper 30's with some rain instead of snow for a change.

We had a nice crowd at the "gathering" at Element, but several regulars were missing due to the final moments for a grandmother. The message on kindness and goodness was inspiring and Erin used the book of Ruth to explain these two fruits of the spirit. She did an awesome job and the praise music was very uplifting as well. We had a couple new faces as well. I also connected briefly with those who want to be a part of the garden project at New Life Village and have several who want to be involved in this unique village where folks can live if they adopt older kids who are in the foster care program. What a different way to give these foster kids the semblance of a normal life with a family atmosphere. We got to love up on our son who did the closing song and shared a few words as well. It's good to see some healing as he is once more involved with Element Church in a lesser role than lead pastor.

We headed out after the service and made a stop at Walmart in Tampa for some goodies before heading to GG's. She received her corner TV stand on Saturday so I told her I would put it together for her after church. She made us a lunch of fried bacon, egg and green pepper with sliced tomato, mayo, dill pickle, lettuce and onion on toast, yeow is that ever delicious and one of Sam's favorites also as he always loves his pb&j sandwich but not when GG makes these. It's almost like eating an omelette on bread. After eating I spent the next 3 1/2 hours putting the stand together which had 125 pieces. The directions were understandable and the finished results were good. It fit perfect for her new 42" LED TV. Tyler came by and helped to hook it up with a new HD cable and programmed her remote. We took the old stand and will donate it to a thrift store for her.

We got back to the house sometime after or around 5. We decided since we had a late lunch we would eat leftovers from the Salt Rock and tortilla soup around 6'ish, both fit the bill as we shared. I tuned into the Alaskan shows and then retreated to the bedroom for some sports before calling it a night around 10'ish. The molar is still giving me some discomfort so I will head to the dentist after pickle ball this morning if they can work me in for another crown it seems like. Oh well, LATER

Sunday Morning

Well Saturday was just a typical winter day in Florida with temps that were somewhere into the low 70's with bright sunshine and a slight breeze. The humidity stayed away and that made for "working outside" just a pleasure and that's what I did until 3 PM. The early morning had a chill but the birds were singing and it reminded of a spring day in the mountains.

We tried to sleep in and I did until 6:30 but I'm so use to rolling out at 6 or a little before it's very difficult to lay in bed. Nancy was out cold and all snuggled up in the flannel sheets. I did my usual morning routines and then microwaved a couple soft boiled eggs and heated up the leftover pork chop for breakfast. That held me until we met up with the Botbyl's and Tracy's at the Salt Rock Grill around 4 PM for an early supper.

I could tell it was going to be a beautiful day outside for laundry on the clothesline so I put a load in the machine and later hung them after I returned from dropping off GG's old TV at Home Depot. Seems every so often the county sets up a disposal site for hazardous materials, used or broken electronics, TVs, etc and wow was this a big production as several vehicles were line with their drop offs. It was a little after 9 when I decide to pull out the lawn mower and starting mowing up the oak leaves that have really been falling the past couple days. Many of the oaks in the 'hood have already started with the fuzzes that signals the start of new leaf development.

I mowed up several large trash can of the leaves and then piled them up so I could reduce them down to about one can by mowing over them. This allows for fast composting plus reduces the volume by 2/3 at least and makes for great mulch of my garden plants. The worms do the rest by running the mulch through their gastrointestinal system and then giving me great organic fertilizer for my garden. It has taken years to build up this good soil that produces great veggies and its mainly because of this process. I lost a lot of worms last year as the yard man sprayed my garden while we were gone for the summer with a weed killer that decimated most of my worms. I have a few coming back but it will probably be a couple years, before they sprayed I had so many worms I was giving them away for other gardeners plus I brought lots of them to the mountain gardens.

I worked outside until it was time for a hot shower and then headed out to the beach town for supper. The boats were everywhere on the intracoastal waterway with lots of folks in shorts and bathing suits. The Salt Rock filled up fast with boaters tying up to their docks and eating outside as well as the inside made for a beautiful view of the waterway. The place was jumping almost from the start and luckily we had reservations. The food was very good and everyone had different entrees. I decided to have the mussels and pasta that started with a bowl of grouper chowder, sourdough(broke the diet for a day) bread with herbs and oil, Caesar salad and finished with apple cobbler and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top(I really broke the diet), although it was a very small dessert. Delicious and I must say this place is one of the top restaurant's in the Bay Area even better than Bone Fish as attested by the number of it's patron's.

We came back and satisfied our desire to play 6 handed Eucher. Initially the guys were up 6-0 in a 10 point game but the gals rallied and won after euchering us twice to win by one. We took the second game by 8 points but decided to skip the rubber game as we wanted to talk about our upcoming trip out west this next fall. We decide upon the Tracy's advice to purchase the air fare now while it's still relatively inexpensive both Nancy and I fly on Southwest round trip from Tampa to Reno, Nevada for less than nine hundred bucks which includes 2 bags each. Wow that is a great price for flying nearly across the country and we will be staying relatively free at Kathryn's brothers rental house in Lake Tahoe. We will leave Tampa on the 11th of Sept and return on the 24th if all goes as planned. We will be in Florida for a few days afterwards for grand kids birthday before heading back to the cabin.

Well I awakened in the middle of the night with a discomfort in one of my molars with the old amalgam filings so it looking like I will be back at the dentist for another crown on Monday, hopefully that is all it will take and not for a root canal. The Air Force dentist put these in my mouth in 1966 and I still have a couple in the lower molars. My dentist here in Florida was an USAF dentist and was stationed at Travis in the same facility I was worked but a couple years after I left the service; small world. I'm surprised these filings have lasted as long as they have, oh well.

It's off to worship with our Element Family this beautiful morning with the fore cast for even warmer temps than yesterday. My garden loves these cool nights and warm days. After the service we will head over to GG's and put together her new corner TV stand we ordered on-line last week as we couldn't find one she wanted locally at a reasonable price, oh well, LATER

Saturday Morning

Well Friday saw us with the coldest morning thus far this winter. I did cover my tomato plants but according to the neighbor who has an outside thermometer it never got below or even to the freezing mark. The local station had us at 36 degrees and the wind kept any frost away but did make it feel even colder with the wind chill. We had to be at Ava and Sam's school by 8:15 for grandparents day so every routine except for a few quiet minutes were disrupted. The sun was shining brightly so I uncovered my tomato's and they looked fine except for where the blankets smashed them down.

We headed out a little after 8 and the walk to the chapel area of the school was a cold one and the inside of the building was cold as well. Luckily we had coats to keep us warm and there was plenty of hot coffee and doughnuts but we passed on both. There was a nice program that honored us(grandparents) and we went back to Ava's classroom where she entertained us after the program. They had games, pictures taken with us in costume characters and a snack of which Ava served us. It was a grand time and her teacher is very nice and seems to be very loving of all of her pupils. We then took Ava with us back to the chapel where the pre-kindergarten classes would then entertain us as well. Little Sam was so cute with his class and then we went back to his class to meet his teachers and then we took both of them with us to our place for lunch. Amy picked up GG and they came for tortilla soup which was perfect on this cold windy day.

Nancy made peanut butter cookies for the kiddos and enough to share with the neighbors as well as lots to take home for the Ross Family. I passed once again but it was difficult to do as they smelled so good right from the oven. We took GG shopping with us as we made a stop at Aldi's then to Sams Club. Gas prices are on the rise once again as it up 20 cents a gallon in the last week. We spoke with our "mountain mom" and its brutally cold and nasty in the mountains. Never before has she seen it this cold and the constant temps below zero. Where are all the "worst enemy facing us is global warming" crowd in the government. I think some one needs to pull their head out of their rectums and screw it on right as we are facing a holy war with radical Islamist who are killing innocent Christians and Jews. Our potus is such sympathizer to their cause that he makes me believe he one of them.

Well I grilled a couple Italian sausages and Nancy sauteed fresh broccoli and mushrooms for supper and after the cleanup we settled into the disheartening news of our less than stellar leaders. We now after so much public pressure to confront Isis have given them our plans and time table to take back some of the territory we let them have when we failed to leave troops in the region after securing Irag. This lack of leadership is so evident that I'm thinking how can even those who voted for this community organizer still be in favor of his incompetence as a commander-in chief. Many of the major news outlets except for Fox still promote this lack of leadership and make excuses for his blunders. I really think they are caught up in remaking America culturally. I was encouraged by those in attendance today at school of those who still love GOD, country and family. Many of us there were old school Americans who fought to make the world a better place for all and not for some ideology that if you don't subscribe to my way of thinking I will cut your head off or burn you alive, Wake Up America before we are too late to preserve this last bastion of freedom and to send these who want to lead US(A)down the road of destruction to their final resting place with 39 virgins in hell, LATER

Friday Morning and it's in the 30's.

Well Thursday was rather chilly to start the day as the strong wind made the 40's feel even colder; however we did have lots of sunshine so it wasn't a depressing cold day. I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out and after my routines and a few quiet moments I bundled up for the cold ride to the rec on my bike for some 2 hours of pickle ball. I got a workout before I got to the rec bucking that strong cold headwind out of the north. We had 3 courts in action with only A players but one feller who is starting to improve rather well. By the end of 2 hours I had a soaked shirt and was worn out. I surely will miss today's play as it's grand parents day at Ava and Sam's school.

After the workout I headed home in the headwind for most of the ride as I had to stand up pedaling for most of the way. The winds seemed even stronger than my earlier ride. We did reach the middle 50's by late afternoon but the heat ran occasionally during the day. I hand watered the gardens and fixed a ridge pole so that I could cover my tomato plants over night with old blankets and sheets. The fore cast is for a hard freeze north of us and a possible freeze for our area. I think the only things that will be susceptible to the cold is the tomato's and beans. Everything else loves the cold except maybe the peppers and they are sheltered next to the fence.

No one came for lunch so we had a salad and then I settled into to some paperwork and read the rest of the day until it was time to pick up GG and bring her for supper. She loves Swiss chard so I cut a huge bunch and got it ready for the skillet where we sauteed it with just a little water. It cooks down to about 1/5 its normal size, much like fresh spinach cooks down. Wow, this is a delicious green and so tender with a delicate flavor. It is one of our favorite greens as well and it accompanied a grilled bone in pork chop loaded with Canadians best seasonings and fresh rosemary. We had yellow rice as well. Well we licked the platter clean and after the clean up we settled into the news and then Nancy took GG home.

We watched the news until the Idol Show and then I headed for the showers and then curled up with a new book by author George Pelecanos. I want to read all of his books as he keeps your interests with lots of at times mundane scenarios but true to life situations that usually result in life or death decisions, oh well I'm not sure if that makes sense but he is a street people person which mainly takes place in the D.C. town and area. I'm basically a country person but do find the writings about the big city attention holding. He even mentions my hometown and county so maybe that's why I find his work intriguing as I can relate somewhat. It wasn't long until 11'ish rolled around and so I slipped between the flannel sheets which were so comfy and warm on this cold evening, LATER

Thursday Morning

Well Wednesday turned out to be a rather chilly blustery day as the north winds brought cold temps down to our area. The heavy rains from the night before which is very unusual for this time of the year had soaked into the yards and gardens. The morning started out with a 6'ish roll out to temps in the middle 40's.

After my morning routines and a few quiet moments I headed out on my bike to the rec. The wind made it not only a cold ride but a difficult one as I pedaled into a strong head wind for part of the way. We had a very large turnout of players with 3 pickle ball courts in action and 8-10 waiting to get on to play. We played the winners split and then partnered up with new players after each set most of which were B players so I had an hour and half before I had to leave the court with a soaked shirt. What a great workout and I got to help with several who are novices to the game and gave them some instruction. We had 3 new guys visiting from Canada and one of them was a very good A player.

After the workout I headed home to harvest my first head of cabbage and pulled several carrots as well as harvest lettuces, beet greens, kale and sugar peas for a salad for lunch. Amy and the kiddos came for lunch without GG as she was singing with her choral group. Little Eliza Faye and Sam were wound up and I have no idea where they get all of that energy. Eliza did take a few rests while sitting on my lap watching kid videos on the computer. She mumbles and tries to talk but we just can't understand her. She is just adorable as well is Sam. He loves his peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch and also fresh veggies. He had several raw carrots and sugar peas along with some ranch dip.

I called our "mountain mom" Helen and wished her happy birthday. She is so fond of little Sammy I had him give her wishes as well. They are snowed in with brutal cold temps in the mountains and more snow in the fore cast. What a winter they are having there. We also spoke with my old friend Ray Todd and he informed me the Saddle Mountain Restaurant has sold and that Pam(neighbor) is moving back to Lexington as her husband passed away last summer. I'm wondering what she will do with the unfinished dried in cabin that sits just down the hill from us.

Well we ate lite for supper with fresh asparagus and Jasmine rice loaded with lots of fresh thyme. We were having house church at Dan and Carol's. We watched the Focus on the Family video from the series titled Truth. This hour long video was debunking the science of evolution and Darwinism. We made plans after the video about our up coming trip to Reno, Nevada next September to Kathryn's brother's rental house. We are putting together dates and looking at air fares in advance as well as a trip plan on what we want to see and visit. Nancy has never been west of the Mississippi so this will be a big trip for her. We want to visit Yellowstone and maybe take an overnighter to San Francisco if we have enough time.

I mentioned I was working on a plan for the New Life Village in Tampa for a garden for them; well

our neighbor came down and mentioned one of the ladies in our old church was starting a halfway house for women who were once addicted. They want a garden at this house and she knew I had one so I forwarded my garden plan to them. Well, it was going on 9 before we got back to the house and then it was hot shower time and some Fox News before it was lights out for me around 11, LATER

Wednesday Morning

Well Tuesday started out with a 6'ish roll out and the temps were in the upper 50's almost like a spring morning; however by late afternoon the clouds rolled in and by nightfall we were inundated with heavy rain showers. This front is supposed to usher in the coldest weather for this winter, but this morning its only down to the low 50's to start the day and the rain has stopped.

After my usual morning routines and a few quiet moments to reflect, give thanks and pray for blessings to the families of those who were murdered at the hands of radical Islamist terrorist throughout the world. I got ready and headed out for my bike ride to the rec for some 2 hours of pickle ball. We had 3 courts in action with A players and the wet shirts were in abundance as the play was fast and furious. The B group came in at 10 for their 2 hour workout and they too had a full gym of players. This sport has really taken off here in Seminole and in the country. I stopped off at the library on my way home for a couple new reads.

I decided to transplant some lettuce seedlings into the ground as rain was in the fore cast. So that kept me busy while Nancy was at the rec doing her 30 minutes on the treadmill. I also tied up some tomato plants that are really starting to set fruit. I especially like the small teardrop tomato's as their flavor is just awesome in a salad and I have 4 volunteer plants that are doing fantastic. I may have to cover them towards the end of the week as a freeze is in the fore cast as well. Hopefully that will stay away as the garden is doing so well but other than a few herbs and the tomato's most of my garden prefers cool or cold weather. I need to cut a cabbage today as they have really headed up and maybe have some fried cabbage for supper or some cabbage roll soup.

I worked on and finished my plan for the gardens at the New Life Village in Tampa and will meet with the director of the complex after church on Sunday along with a few other men from Element who are partnering up with the foster child adoption families. I've shared most or all I know about gardening and hopefully some of them will lend their expertise to the program as well. I learned the director is a vegetarian so he is really on board for the project.

Amy, GG, Sam and Eliza came for lunch and little Eliza is teething so she has a bit of an attitude but eventually got in a better mood as the day wore on. She loves to climb up on my lap and look at kid videos on the computer and wiggles around to the music. She is such a doll and just breaks your heart with her smiles and gibberish. She wants to talk so badly and is doing a decent job of making her self known with what she wants. After they left to pick up Ava the skies opened and I spent the rest of the afternoon in a book by George Pelecanos. I really enjoy his writings and he is a fantastic story teller as well.

We decide to have salmon cakes and sweet peas for supper. I need to go back on my watching what and how much I consume as this past weekend I added a few pounds and what feels like a few inches to the spare tire. Eating out is a diet buster whether it's at someone else's home or at a restaurant especially with the warm sourdough bread and herb dip, Yikes we went through 4 loaves of that at the Bone Fish on Sunday evening. Oh well!!!!

We settled into the Fox News Channel after the clean up and learned the "religion of peace" not only beheaded 21 Christians but burned alive 45 captives in cages this week end. When is someone going to step up within our government leaders and do something to stop this madness and become a leader and not a community organizer or fund raiser. The latest plan from this bunch is to give the terrorists jobs! What! I'm not believing what I hear from our state dept. as these terrorist have all the money they need from the oil in the region. Bin Laden was a multi-millionaire and he was responsible for killing thousands so why would we think these fanatics want a job. It's just another way for Obama to take America's money and give away to people who want to kill us. I say stop all foreign aid to everyone but our real allies and that would be Israel in the region but our potus is avoiding them and siding up with Iran who is the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the world and we want them to have nuclear capabilities. Wake Up, America, LATER

Tuesday Morning

Well Monday was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and temp's into the middle 70's and no humidity. Since the rec was closed for the holiday I slept in until 6:30 or tried to. Nancy had to be at the dentist at 8:30 for the broken molar she sustained on Saturday. We were planning a get together at GG's for supper before Arianne and Errol headed back to Miami later in the day.

I did my usual routines for the morning but in different order since Nancy was leaving for the dentist. After a couple microwaved eggs I decided to work on a plan for the garden at New Life Village. I put a couple hours into that and then decided to head out to pick beans for supper as well as pick sugar peas, lettuces, kale, spinach and beet greens for the salad. I cleaned all of  them and got them ready for the salad bowl. I now have cabbages ready to harvest and luckily not all of them have headed up at one time. I then hand watered and fed some of the new seedlings as well.

Well once again Nancy is having another crown to accompany the other two and then the bridge which is a crown itself. Wow this is starting to get rather expensive but thankfully this broken molar hasn't exhibited the signs of needing a root canal. The other side of her jaw is finally healing after that root canal and she has stopped using anti-inflammatory's for now. She was in some awful pain for a couple of days.

Amy brought Ava and Eliza by while she grocery shopped. Sam had school whereas Ava was off. So we entertained the two of them then she picked Sam up and we all had a lunch together. Nancy made ginger snap cookies for the kiddos and for a dessert for supper. I read the rest of the afternoon until it was time to head over to GG's. We wanted to eat early so they could get a start on their trip back to Miami at a decent time.

I fired up the grill for marinated flank steaks and Amy had a mac and cheese in the oven along with baked 'taters. Nancy had the fresh picked green beans and fresh carrots on the stove cooking as well as the fresh salad I earlier had put together. Wow what a feast and I must say delicious. There was 8 adults and the 3 little ones and we put a hurtin' on every dish. The steak was medium to rare, the mac and cheese had a slight crust and the salad was awesome with homemade Greek dressing as was everything else. After the feed Tyler and I did the dishes and the cleanup while Arianne and Errol packed and loaded the car. It was after 7 when they left as did all of us for home. Betsy was still there keeping GG company or falling asleep before she headed to Clearwater.

Well it was a whirlwind visit with them as always and we always have so much fun and eat "high on the hog". Little Eliza Faye was so cute as she wondered around trying to get everyone's remote or phone and she quickly adapted to these two new faces. I broke my diet this weekend with bread and taters but did stay true to no cookies or dessert other than a taste at the Bone Fish last night. The weather was just perfect this weekend for their visit as well. They helped GG find a 42 inch LED LG TV and now we must find a corner TV stand for her. She has it sitting on top of her coffee table. After a hot shower and a few minutes of the news which is getting to be just down right frightening with the killing of the Christians in Libya by cutting their heads off. This should frighten the world by what these extreme radical Islamist are doing to innocent people. We need someone with cajoles to step up and take charge to eradicate this scourge from among us. We certainly don't have a concerned potus as he is playing golf for three days out west on our dime, Wake Up America, LATER

Here are a few garden pictures!!!

Monday Morning

Well I must say yesterday, Sunday found us with unbelievably beautiful weather. I know if your anywhere but Florida you were having some very cold weather with some blizzard conditions in the far northeast and below zero temps in the mountains of the Carolina's. We had a busy fun filled day as we met with the New Life Village complex near Element in Tampa for a 2 plus hour block party and then later in the evening we met niece Arianne and husband Errol who are in the area from Miami for the weekend at the Bone Fish Grille for supper.

The day started with a 6'ish roll out as we got ready for our weekly trip to Tampa and Element Church. We got to love up on our son Bobby who is back to leading the praise music and our grand kiddo's Annsley and Gabriel. We had a nice crowd and Blake did an awesome message on one of the fruits of the spirit; patience. His main theme was on the oldest story in the Bible about Job and his perseverance in his faith and love for GOD when he was put to the test regarding his faith. He did an amazing job and is a natural speaker. We are so blessed with such talented young folks in this day an age who hold true to the tenets of Jesus's teaching. What a contrast to what is happening with the radicals of an ideology that if you don't become one of them they cut your head off or burn you alive. I'm dismayed that we have allowed this kind of thinking and teaching to infiltrate our culture and I hate to say it, but our potus has appeased them and is even sympathetic in the name of political correctness. He has said we are no longer a christian nation. I wonder what history class or book he studied as we were founded by the Pilgrims and their need for freedoms that were based on christian principles and tenets found in the Bible.

After the service we traveled about a mile away to the New Life Village and met up with several owners from Element and introduced ourselves by way of a block party to the kids and their adoptive parents. We provided the eats; grilled dogs, chips, cookies, peanuts and drinks as well as a huge bouncy tent, face painting, kick ball, tug rope, hula hoop contests and lots of music with a DJ. The weather was perfect and the bright sunshine made for a very pleasant and comfortable outing. We met several of the adults who have adopted foster kids and their siblings. There were older adults as well who provide the atmosphere of complete families with the grand parent atmosphere.

This complex is huge and gated and it was brought to my attention they want to grow a community garden but needed someone to give them a plan and some insight into Florida gardening. I met with the director and he was very much interested with the idea and had already picked out a spot that provided a large area that already had water available for irrigation. We have several in our church who live near by and can provide some help as well but mainly the parents of the complex wants to do the project but needs a plan to get started. I will draw up what they need to get started and provide some pointers as they or we proceed with this partnering idea for this new idea of giving foster kids who are adopted a sense of a stable family life. We may even be an influence on some who could be making life changing decisions.

We got back around 2:30 and I settled into running the sprinkler on the gardens as the temps reached nearly 80 degrees; but there was no humidity which made it rather pleasant. We made plans to meet up with GG, Arianne, Errol and Betsy at 5:30 in Largo for supper. We had a sumptuous meal of rainbow trout, bang bang shrimp, lobster bisque and salmon. A little vino flowed as well as some of the best sourdough bread. I broke my diet with both the bread and the Thai dish which was very spicy and loaded with shrimp. I even tasted the chocolate cremeboule'(sic) which was very tasty.

We came back to our house to play games but everyone was too full so we sat around and played with Eliza, Ava and Sam as Amy came by for a visit. They got into watching the HGTV show where remodeling goes on so I headed into to watch the story about the missing teacher from Georgia. That has been 10 years or more since she disappeared and nary a clue as to what happened to her. She was a beauty queen as well, liked by all is this small town and not one clue has ever turned up to where she is or even if she is still alive. What a mystery and no viable suspects as well.

It was close to midnight before they headed out. Betsy was asleep on the couch and GG was nodding off as well. I didn't feel bad as I told everyone good-night and got ready for bed a little after 11, LATER

Sunday Morning

Well it was nippy for most of the day unless you were out of the wind and in the sunlight. The low 40's greeted us and there was frost on a some of the roof's in the hood. The trees kept the frozen white stuff away from our roof and garden thus no evident damage. I always wondered how you could have frost which is frozen water and the temp's be above 32*; but it happens. The sun quickly melted off the roofs. I ventured out just before noon and hand watered the gardens and transplanted some lettuce seedlings into the ground. I still needed a jacket as the wind once more made it feel even colder.

We were heading to Bobby's around 2 to have the cousins play and to then have supper with him and the kiddos and give the kiddos their Valentine's bad of goodies. We had a lite lunch of salad and Nancy had cookie dough made up to bake for when we got there. We also brought garlic bread and a salad to accompany Bobby's lasagna which he had ready for the oven around 5'ish. We rode with Tyler and Amy as their SUV had plenty of room for the 7 of us. It turned out to be beautiful in the sun with just enough chill in the air to keep the bugs away and no humidity. By the time we left sometime after dark the chill once again enveloped the area but not nearly as cold as the night before.

Bobby did a wedding at 4'ish and then met us back at his townhouse around 5'ish. Nancy had the meal just about ready to eat and we all dug in to a delicious Italian supper. Wow was that ever tasty. The kiddos had a grand time running outside on the sidewalk and Eliza Faye found the carpeted steps. She  had a fun time wearing us out as she made for the steps at every opportunity and for the many lego's on the coffee table.

Nancy's throbbing pain in her jaw has just about ceased but now another new catastrophe as she broke off another molar to the gum while eating. It looks as if that will need a crown and hopefully not a root canal. She is having a difficult time with her teeth as of late, oh well. The kiddos all had baths and showers before we headed out and as we decided to skip the crosstown toll road wouldn't you know it there was a tremendous backup up on I-4 into malfunction junction(I-275) due to a fender bender. That took us an extra half hour to get home with traffic backed up for miles,

but we made it somewhere around 9'ish. Eliza was asleep and Sam was nodding but Ava Mae was wide awake.

Well after hot showers I tuned into the Fox News to learn another radical Islamist shot and killed some folks in Denmark in a couple shooting events. I fear it will soon be the norm here as well as we have no leadership in helping to thwart these people. They have no tolerance for those who do not prescribe to their ideology and tenets of their religion. Watch out America as we will soon see the brazenness of those fanatics who will take to the streets to spew their hatred for anyone Christian or Jewish, LATER

Saturday Morning

Well Friday was not a typical day weather wise for Florida despite lots of sunshine. The temps stayed below normal with the strong northern breeze that kept us in long sleeves, pants and a jacket for the day. When I rode out on my bike around 7'ish it was down right cold and my eyes watered all the way to the rec, of course this was nothing compared to what our friends in the mountains are experiencing.

The day started much the usual with a 6'ish roll out. After my quiet time and a lite breakfast I pedaled out for some 2 hours of pickle ball with about a dozen or so other players. We had a mixture of A and B players with a couple new players down for a couple weeks from the frozen north. I had a wet shirt by 10 and was ready for a break as I was able to partner up and win for most of the morning. I made a stop at the library on the way home. Nancy was at her Friday morning Bible study group at SFBC despite the pain from her root canal. The naproxin(Alieve) has helped to take away the throbbing pain so she can function to some degree.

I harvested lettuces, beet greens, kale and sugar peas for a salad and got them ready for Nancy to add other veggies for a huge salad for lunch along with GG's famous meat loaf sandwiches. I skipped the bread as I can feet the spare tire inflating once again from the taters and bread I've eaten this week. I made a guacamole and had it ready for lunch of which I slathered on my meat loaf instead of the bread. It was very delicious and the avocado's came from my neighbors tree which is loaded. They are a little darker than the one's we buy in the store but I like them especially since they were free. This tree is loaded with fruit and they don't eat them.

Amy, GG and all three of the Ross kiddos came for lunch as Ava had the day off. After lunch we played with them and then Amy, GG and Ava went shopping so Nancy got Eliza to sleep and Sam played with Lego's. I headed into the reading room and finished another book. After they left I vacuumed and then we ate the left over rotisserie chicken and salad for supper. We spoke with our mountain mom, Helen and boy is it cold up there and forecasted with really cold temps the next couple days. Wow, what a cold winter in the mountains. Well that was about it for the day as we settled into the Fox News channel for most of the evening except for the Alaskan shows which came on at 9, LATER

Friday Morning

Well Thursday started out much the usual except for a chill that dipped down into the 40's overnight. It was down right nippy as I rode to the rec on my bike after my morning routines, yikes that north wind was going through my quilted shirt; but the sunshine was bright and looked promising towards a warm up later in the day which did happen. By late afternoon it reached the upper 60's and maybe even a 70 as the wind laid down and made for ideal conditions.

We had a full house at the rec for 2 hours of pickle ball play and I left whupped with a wet shirt at 10. I made a quick stop at the library to pick up a couple books I had on order before heading home to piddle around in the garden. Nancy was still having lots of discomfort from her root canal and the dentist called and told her to double up on the naproxin(Alieve) as she is allergic to ibuprofen. The roots were in such bad shape of the tooth he worked on and the inflammation is so acute within the area that she needs to double and triple if necessary the over the counter meds. She did start to get a little relief by days end. She always has the worst luck with root canals.

Nancy took her mother grocery shopping as she wanted to have us all for a supper of meat loaf later on this evening so while she was gone I harvested and cleaned lettuces, kale, sugar peas and beet greens for a huge salad then hand watered the gardens. We were not having anyone for lunch so we cleaned up the leftover chicken stir fry. I decided since it was peace and quiet to work on my taxes for this year and spent the next couple hours putting together my paperwork and then using Turbo Tax on-line, I E-filed my return. It was simple and fairly inexpensive to do so and they keep a record on file of your last return and for 35 bucks it's a deal. That is one "bucket list" that is done yearly and is now complete. Speaking of the IRS I learned with this new amnesty edict by the potus the illegals can get a refund without ever having to pay any tax at all. What is wrong with this picture? Don't get me started!!

We had scalloped taters, meat loaf and green beans from my garden along with a salad from Tyler's garden at GG's around 6. The supper was delicious and the kiddos ate well except for Ava as all of a sudden she doesn't like meat. Eliza Faye and Sam ate well but not Ava although she did have helpings of the other dishes. Tyler stopped in an ate quickly as he had to teach an ESL class at 6:30. After the clean up we settled in to watching the kids play and interact with one another until it was going on 8. We wanted to be home to watch the Idol Show and I switched back and forth to the Lightning game where they got beat again by the St. Louis Blues 6-3. They are still the tops in their division but this Blues team is for real in their division.

After a hot shower I finally got in some reading before lights out at 10:30 as 6 o'clock comes early, LATER

Thursday Morning

Well Good Morning America. I wondered how much longer we will be able to say that after the disturbing news I heard from Yemen that our government ordered our Marines who was guarding our embassy personnel to surrender their rifles before leaving the compound to the radical Islamist who took over the country. This was the country our potus bragged about in his state of the union address that our endeavors or his actions where resulting in so much success there. I'm afraid we will see more of this type of surrender in the future to these animals who butcher, hang, rape, behead and set on fire all in the name of their ideology as our government makes excuses for their cause and religion.

Well Thursday on a personal note had many up's and down's as well as nothing was routine for us. We had to be at the cardiologist by 8:40 so after a 6'ish roll out and a lite breakfast we headed out into the chilly morning with temps in the middle 40's. I had to forego any pickle ball today. There was plenty of sunshine but the breeze kept it nippy until lunch time when it finally warmed up enough to be comfortable outside in the sun and then by late evening it had warmed up to the high 60's. Amy and the kiddos came for lunch and stayed until Nancy had her dental appointment around 2'ish.

The cardiologist had some profound news as they were able to detect the root cause of Nancy's tachycardia. It seems to be a congenital defect when she was a fetus as one of the electrical nodes was competing with each other so at times there are two signals from the SA Node that cause the heart to beat rapidly and thus the blood is not getting into the chambers adequately. There are two methods to correct the problems and the first is with mediation which has about a 50% success rate and then their is ablation where they go into the heart through the arteries and cauterize the competing signal which is nearly 90% successful. If neither of those works then its a pacemaker. We were hopeful and thankful to hear there is no heart problems with structural damage or blockage. After leaving there we made a stop at Sam's to fill up which now has gas prices on the rise again. It went up 20 cents a gallon over the pass two days but still lower than the nearly 4 bucks at one time.

We dropped off her prescription and then she dropped me off at the house while she went to our dentist again over the painful tooth that had been worked on last week. Our dentist sent her to a root canal specialist and sure enough she spent the next two hours getting an expensive root canal. Seems this bridge she wanted is costing her a lot of pain and discomfort as well as tons of money. The last root canal resulting in finally pulling the tooth after an x-ray failed to show an abscess on the root that was supposed to not be there, oh well!!

I spent the afternoon piddling around in the garden and reading until she got back around 5'ish. I cut some Swiss chard from the garden as I knew she would need something soft for supper. We had bought a rotisserie chicken at Sam's so supper was going to be easy. She was able to eat slowly as the Novocaine finally began to wear off. There was still some pain in the area but hopefully just the one molar will need the root canal. It was strange as the Tylenol took care of the pain at times before the root canal which usually doesn't happen to my way of thinking, oh well. After the cleanup we settled into the day's news and were flabbergasted to hear of the actions our state department towards our Marines. I've never heard of such orders and we all know they came from this administrations lack of resolve to fight for our country against those he perceives as his friends with appeasement. I certainly hope the repercussions in this country will be such that we finally wake up. History repeats itself and England did the same thing with the rise of Nazi Germany and we know what happened there, LATER

Wednesday Morning

Well Tuesday started out with moderate temps but by late evening it had turned chilly once again with a strong breeze that made it feel even colder especially since the clouds covered the sun for most of the evening. It wasn't that cold of a bike ride to the rec even though I needed an extra shirt but we are supposed to get back down into the high 30's in the next couple of days for the low's.

I started the day with my usual 6'ish roll out and after a few quiet moments and my usual routines I headed out to the rec for two solid hours of pickle ball play. We had 3 courts of A players in action for most of the period and the wet shirts were in abundance. I'm going to miss today as Nancy has a doctors appointment with the cardiologist regarding her recent month of wearing a monitor. Hopefully we will find out what needs to be done or how severe her tachycardia is and that maybe a medication will help with that problem. She is still having pain issues with that recent bridge in her molars. She had taken way too much Tylenol so we must get her off of that. The Tylenol does help to relieve the pain so that is a good thing according to the dentist, oh well.

Amy, GG and the kiddos came for a lunch of frozen pizzas doctored up with fresh mushroom, yeow was that ever delicious along with a salad. I picked another colander full of green beans and we had some in a stir fry of chicken, bamboo shoots and mushrooms over Jasmine rice. Another tasty meal especially with the fresh beans. Little Eliza Faye was her charming self and has a cute smile as she melts your heart. Sam is doing flash cards everyday after lunch and he to is just such a sweet boy and loves playing with his sister albeit some times he's a little rough. She never complains or cries but goes back for more. She comes into the reading room and climbs up on my lap and points to the laptop wanting to see videos for about 5 minutes then she's gone again.

After they left to pick up Ava from school we chilled until it was time to start super. I finished a book by Yates titled THE EASTER PARADE  and gave it to GG to read. The setting takes place in her era in the early 40's. Yates is a fantastic story teller and puts you right in the settings. He and Pelecanos have my attention when it comes to reading fiction for now. Both write from the heart and in the era's I can associate with. Pelecanos writes within the Vietnam era and its aftermath and with the drug craze that was starting to infiltrate and become an influence in our culture. We spoke with our mountain mom Helen and they have been having decent sunshine weather for the past couple days despite it being down in the freezing level at night.

Well after the cleanup from super we settled into the Fox News Channel and the big headlines are that NBC's Brian Williams has been suspended for lying or embellishing his stories so there goes his credibility especially from the position he held as an anchor. I was never much of a fan of his but when I couldn't get FOX I would watch him and take what he said with a grain of salt. I can not for the life of me understand why the media gives the left and especially the potus a pass on all of his lies and failures and especially the lack of care for the safety of Americans. If a person who was a conservative and by that I mean someone who favors smaller gov't intrusion into your life, free enterprise, protecting the lives of the unborn children, following the constitution that guarantees all of us the right to protect ourselves by having arms(guns) and by being able to decide what is best for us with our health care and having safe and secure borders. To me that is a person from the right or a conservative leaning position. What we have in the government in Washington for the past several years is just the opposite and we now are seeing the results within the country becoming radically divided between the races, the dream of becoming a success from hard work is no longer a virtue but relying on the gov't to support you with hand outs and no respect for the laws that keep us civil. Everything that once was bad is now accepted as the norm and what really scares me is the lack of concern for those who want to kill us with their suicide bombs and radical Islamist ideology, LATER

Tuesday Morning

Well Monday started out nice with mild temps in the low 60's to start the day. There were a few clouds around but it was mostly sunshine; however around noon that all changed and the rain fell. It rained all afternoon and even until late evening before it finally quit and the temps dropped rather quickly. There was a chill in the air by bedtime.

I did my usual morning routines before heading out to the rec on my bike after my quiet times and a lite breakfast. We had 2 courts in action of A players and the play was great with long rallies and of course a wet shirt for me. After 2 hours I stopped off at the library to pick up a couple new reads before heading home to add some of my recently purchased trace and macro minerals in an experiment with a couple of my veggies. I want to see if these organic minerals are really worth the price and if they make a difference from the petroleum based fertilizers such as Miracle Grow. I mixed them up in a water base solution and added them to a couple tomato plants, spinach, kale, radishes and carrots. Hopefully they will make a difference to the taste and production of my garden plants and be healthier for us as well.

Amy dropped Eliza Faye off around 10:30 and we were best buds for a hour while Nancy was back at the dentist. She was having to use Tylenol all weekend to help with pain she was having with the recent two crowns that would be the base for a bridge. We played toys and then watched videos and had a fun time waiting for Nancy to get back. The dentist ground down a little of the one temporary crown which he thinks maybe the source of the pain and that it's not the need for a root canal at this time. I sure hope that he is right.

We had salad and I finished the leftover fish on a bun for lunch. That is really the first bread I've had in a couple of days. I headed to the reading room as the rain inundated us and at times rather hard. That should help with getting those minerals to the plant roots. It was a rainy afternoon and after Amy, GG and the kiddos left to pick up Ava at school we headed to Walmart for a couple items. It was nearly 4 PM before we got home so we settled into reading until it was time to pick up GG and head to Amy's for supper. She was making burgers from the last of their Kansas home grown beef and my what a difference in the taste of the meat from store bought meat. The burgers were awesome and she had mac and cheese along with an Asian salad. A very tasty meal and then she had peanut butter pie and cupcakes for desert. I stayed away from the desert but did taste the icing which was very smooth and delicious. It took some will power but I'm finally down a few pounds at 184 after my workout which of course goes up during the day.

We were entertained by Ava and Sam through out the evening and then we took off after Eliza had her bath and went to sleep. It was a fun evening and the food was delicious. Amy has become such a great cook like her mother. We dropped GG off at her house then headed home for a hot shower before tuning into the Fox News Channel. It was horizontal lab for me around 10:30, LATER

Monday morning

Well Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day weather wise. Once again the humidity stayed away and we reached somewhere into the upper 70's by early afternoon with bright sunshine and blue skies. Wow, almost a perfect day as we worshiped at Element Church in Tampa but then we headed down to Bobby's old house in Riverview to help with cleaning out the few things of his that were stored in the garage. That meeting resulted in some tension as Jill was there to let him in. She never acknowledged Nancy or I and was very curt and short with Bobby but thankfully no real big scene took place. Bob was missing several items that were totally his and she insisted she had no knowledge of where they were or what happened to them, oh well.

The day started out with us sleeping in until nearly 7 then doing our routine for Sunday morning before heading out to Tampa. Dan and Carol were unable to go so we headed out a little after 9. We were warmly greeted and then we worked the door greeting others with hugs and handshakes. Our house church put together Valentine candy in a bag for the E-kids and the leaders were most thankful for that. We had a nice crowd and a few newbies as well. The praise music was awesome and our own Danielle(from our house church) was the lead female singer this week. Jordan did a nice job with the message on peace which is one of the fruits of the vine. We got back to Seminole around 2:30 as another friend and church elder brought his truck to Bobby's and we loaded both his and mine with what was left from the garage. The house had a sold sign in the yard. It was difficult to see and then leave there after so many good memories were once associated with the place.

We came back and cleaned up some of the leftovers from last week and were they ever delicious. It's no wonder I have a spare tire with all of the tasty dishes Nancy prepares. We decided after eating lunch so late that a few nuts and trail mix would suffice us for the rest of the evening and it did. I read and then we watched the Alaskan shows until it was bedtime for me around 10. Nancy woke me up at midnight as she hear the sheriff's helicopter circling the 'hood who obviously looking for someone. We noticed our widow neighbor across the street still had her garage door up so Nancy called her and she shut in. I have my .40 caliber loaded and locked awaiting any intruder. We never worry or are alarmed with someone lurking through the woods at the cabin after dark, oh well, LATER

Sunday Morning

Well Saturday was a busy fun filled day as the weather was just perfect. There was just enough chill in the air to where you could wear long pants and be comfortable despite the bright sunshine and clear blue skies. There was no humidity and temps may have reached the low 70's by late afternoon. We slept in to start the day until nearly 7 for a change. After our usual quiet times and the posting of this ramble we got ready to meet up with neighbors Dan and Carol for a busy day together.

We headed down to St. Petersburg near the pier to a park that was filled with all kinds of vendors that sold food, ceramics, chutneys, clothing, fresh organic grown veggies, kettle corn, barbecue, music, dancing, etc all outside. This place was wall to wall people and about half of them had dogs on leashes or in strollers. We sampled several items and purchased a few as well as brought back some veggies. We spent a couple hours mingling into all of the tented venues and was entertained by all kinds of folks in their various outfits and dancing. This fair happens every weekend and there were some great looking restaurant type foods from all kinds venues as well. There was several stand up places to eat as well as a huge area with tables and umbrellas. The ambiance was very nice as you could see the water near the pier with thousands of sailboats at their docks. Al Lang Stadium was right next door which is very impressive as well.

We left the fair or outdoor market as I believe it's referred too and headed back towards Seminole and made a stop at Sonny's Barbecue for lunch before heading out to the other side of the county on Indian Rocks Road. Dan was familiar with this organic gardener who grows everything that is edible from trees to shrubs as well as lots of vegetable plants. She also sells powdered minerals that come from out west that has every know trace and lesser minerals for your plants. This powdered mixture comes from a dry seabed. I thought I would give it a try as well as we purchased a Stevia plant and a dill plant as well as some heirloom seeds. The Stevia leaves were so sweet and Nancy wants to try them in her coffee.

We then walked a couple shops up and found some beautiful flowers and herbs. At first I thought the organic shop and flower shop were in business together. We purchased an herb basket for Bobby which would be perfect for his small porch area at his townhouse. The herbs in this basket were just beautiful with 6 or 7 different herbs as were all of the flowering plants. I mentioned to the owner she should use some of the organic mixture from a couple doors down to feed her plants as opposed to the petroleum based fertilizers. We made a stop at the seafood market as well at the produce stand before heading home around 4 PM.

We were meeting at 5:30 for a supper of fish tacos, black beans, rice and salad. I put a couple pounds of fresh fish fillets on the grill and Nancy made a fresh salad which we took up to the Botbyl's for supper. We played a game of Phase 10 after the cleaned and Dan won big time once again as that seems to be his game. We headed out for the house around 9:30 after a fun filled day with some good eatin'. Today Sunday we head to Tampa for worship with the gathering at Element Church and then to help Bobby move the last of his belonging from the garage at his old house. That will be a sad moment for all of us as it's one final moment in his life that was once so joyous, LATER

Saturday Morning

Well Friday started out much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to start the day. After a few of my daily routines I did a few quiet moments and had a lite breakfast of oatmeal, cinnamon, honey and a few pecans to give it some crunch  before heading out to the rec on my bike. It was a bit nippy as the north breeze made for a chilly ride. By the time my workout was over at 10 the sun had warmed the outside air considerably and made for a pleasant ride home. Nancy was at her Friday morning Bible study at SFBC, so I hung the load of laundry she left in the washing machine then picked lettuces, kale, spinach and beet greens and cleaned them for a huge salad. I then picked a nice mess of green beans the first for this year filling up a colander. I had enough for supper and then gave GG enough for her supper and enough for another meal. Boy where they ever good as these aren't your normal green beans.

We had a large turnout for pickle ball with a mixture of A and B players. I stayed most of the morning on the court and had a soaked shirt once again as I left around 10 for home.

Amy, GG and the kiddos came for a lunch of pizzas doctored up with fresh mushrooms and a side salad. Yeow did I ever overdo it and made that my big meal of the day. We took GG with us after Amy left to pick up Ava from school to get her imaging record of her arteries as she has an appointment with a vascular surgeon on Tuesday. I still think it's a waste of time as she has reduced the swelling in her ankles with a change in her blood pressure meds; but Humana wants her to see a surgeon at 86 years of age. We stopped at her place as she has been having trouble with her bathroom sink not draining properly so I corrected that situation before we headed home. We were watching the Ross Kiddos at 5 ish as Amy and Tyler were celebrating their 10th anniversary at the Salt Rock Grill and then out to a movie.

I grilled chicken legs per Sam's request and had boiled macaroni and green beans. Little Eliza Faye ate very good as she ate some of everything. Ava is a picky eater and Sam is very finicky about certain things on his plate but not Eliza as she poked it in with both hands. Nancy had ice cream sandwiches for the them for dessert and then I popped them a huge bowl of pop corn for later during their movie time. Eliza was right in there with them up until it was her bedtime then she went right down and slept through until they took all of the kiddos home around 11'ish.

I had taken my shower before Nancy put Eliza down for bed so once they left I was ready for some horizontal lab shortly thereafter. I had read most of the evening after Eliza went to bed as Sam and Ava watch 2 movies with Nancy. I finished KILLING PATTON and once again O'Reilly and Dugard did a magnificent job of researching for the read and if we had listened to Patton the world would be in a much better position especially regarding the Russians. Patton was a true hero who spoke with audacity and truth while being a little rough along the edges. He was what made America great despite his coarseness at times and if we had some leadership today the world would be so much calmer. He and Teddy Roosevelt were cut from the same material, LATER

Friday Morning

Well Thursday started out with low lying rain clouds after a night of some heavy down pours. I managed to get to the rec on my bike in between the last big shower which was welcomed by my garden and yards. It seems this time of the year we have very little rain fall until the summer months.

I started out the day with the usual before 6 roll out and then my routines of a few quiet moments before heading out for my 2 hour workout on the pickle ball courts. We had mostly A players today and the games were filled with extended rallies and great play. What a workout and I was completely done in by 10 AM with a sweat soaked shirt. I stopped off at the library on the way home and finally received my long awaited book by Bill O'Reilly KILLING PATTON. Wow, what an awesome read so far as I'm about half way through the read. So far I'm thoroughly impressed with the investigative research that was used to compile this man's convictions and his ability to lead an army during WWII.

There wasn't much to do when I got home as the gardens and yards where soaked so after vacuuming I sat and read until lunch time when Amy brought GG, Sam and Eliza. Both kiddo's were having and attitude for some reason and finally they got back to being their normal selves after eating. I've never seen little Eliza pitch such a hissy fit but she was having nothing to do with either of us which is really not like her. Finally she settled down and was her old charming smiley self and she climbed up on my lap several times wanting to watch videos on the lap top until they left to pick up Ava from school.

Nancy took her mom, GG shopping and then to her house so I just read. The sun finally broke through and cleared up the skies but a strong breeze brought some cooler temps from the north. I picked our first batch of snow peas or sugar peas as some call them and we added them along with fresh mushrooms to the cubed chicken in a stir fry that we put over Jasmine rice for supper, Yeow was that ever delicious. I reached 184 lbs this morning for the first time since I don't know when and now with just 4 pounds to go I will have reached my goal. I just want to maintain that weight or mainly keep this spare tire deflated and really I haven't missed the sweets, chips and crackers. I do miss the bread especially the pumpernickel when we have sandwiches, oh well. I have cut down on my portions as well which is big for me as I'm use to cleaning up what's left in the pots and pans. Now I just eat that the next day for lunch. Nancy even made a comment that the spare tire doesn't look as big. We both are on a weigh in daily now that we have a new set of bathroom scales.

Well after the clean up we settled into learn that our potus invited a ruthless Muslim killer from Africa to the annual prayer breakfast in Washington and mention the ISIS killers are an example of what the Christians did in the Crusades 800 years ago. Give me a break as this man has no intention of keeping the homeland safe and will provide excuses for these radicals Islamists who murder, rape and terrorize. What kind of people burn alive their captives in this modern era and then video tape it to be shown all over the world. That was a rhetorical question I should answer myself; the same kind of people who take airplanes and fly them into buildings killing themselves and thousand of other innocents all in the name of their "religion of peace".

For those of you who are responsible for these government leaders I hope you can sleep at night  and when these radicals come knocking on your door remember what your lack of conviction created. We(USA) are in for some rude awakenings if we continue to allow this leadership to lead us down the road of destruction and hopefully with the new congress someone will step up and see what is happening in our land. Every chance I get to write my representatives in the congress I do and let's not be timid here we are being infiltrated by these who want to see us(USA) and our way of life destroyed. We now have race, anti-police, class warfare and now the Christian religion being used to divide the nation. We are seeing what this leadership in D.C. is doing to "fundamentally change the nation" as he promised in his campaign speeches, Wake Up America before we have lost it all to these secular progressives on the left, LATER
