Well Tuesday was another rainy day that lasted all day long, yikes. I was cabin fever to say the least but since we were having the Kool Peoples Club for the afternoon and for supper I survived. I did have to make several trips up and down the stairs for exercise as I could not get out to hike or even walk around the yard. It was a miserable wet cold day where you could see your breath when I headed out to grill on the back porch around 5'ish.
I started the day with a near 7 roll out for a change I stayed up late watching some of the playoff games in baseball. The Ray's tied up the Astros in their series when their bats and pitching came together and now the final game will be played in Houston on Thursday evening and the winner moves on to play another best of 7 games series. Initially we thought their would be played in the afternoon but it was moved back to the prime time hours which started at 7'ish and so was the reason the gang came over around 1'ish. The gals didn't want to play any card games and wanted to watch a movie on the Netflix so we guys played 3 handed Spaded which was a hoot to say the least especially when you try to go NiL(which means you take no tricks or plays). It took us nearly 3 hours to play the game to 500 which saw each of us going into the negative several times when trying to take that route. What a hoot and Dan at one time was nearly 400 points in the negative came back to win after Patrick and I saw our lead evaporate from attempting the NIL moves. We had a great time and the plays were fun.
I grilled boneless rib eye steaks which were fabulous and Nancy had smashed taters and fresh broccoli as well as a fresh garden salad and an hour or so later we had fresh strawberry shortcake with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, yikes was that ever delicious. We settled into the Rat's game which saw the Astros start pitcher get blasted for a couple runs and we (Rays) held on to win 4-1. It was 11'ish before I hit the sack after a hot shower. We get together again today and travel to Boone/Blowing Rock area for a touristy adventure after stopping off to see Jake and Kaitlyn house they are flipping on the way down the parkway. We will all ride together in the truck as it holds 6 people and meet them about 30 miles down the parkway and eat lunch out at the Peddling Pig in Boone.
Well the rain has finally stopped this Wednesday morning and the skies still look as if it could rain more. It's cooled don but not miserably cold yet like it is in the northwest which is cold and snowing in some areas. This rain and cold front should help with the leaf change as we just have less than three weeks to go. We have company coming this weekend then that will be the last of guests for this year; we asked ourselves where did this summer go, LATER
Just a few pics of the Kool Peoples Club in the cabin on a rainy day.
