Well Tuesday evening found me playing my first pickle ball this year in the mountains with 5 other good young players. The oldest was probably 45 or so and believe me that does make a difference after and hour and a half or so. It was fun and I had a great workout. The day also ushered in some much dryer and windy weather and at times Nancy had trouble keeping clothes on the line.
The morning started much the usual with a 6'ish roll out and then my routines of a hot cup of turmeric drink and then a few quiet moments with my Creator and then the posting of this ramble from yesterday's activities. Afterwards I had a bowl of oatmeal with peaches, cinnamon and honey before donning my gum boots and heading out to check on the gardens. The morning dew is extremely heavy. Everything looked great and especially the Morning Glory seedlings. They were so young when I planted them with just a bare root showing in the pot that I first thought I had planted them to immature but they doubled in size overnight so I'm thrilled as I have them planted in four locations with one being on the lower side of the arbor.
I decided to work on one of the benches for the fire circle which had deteriorated over the winter. I left them out all winter and most of the wood in them are not pressure treated. I should know better, oh well. Everything else looked good but I was concerned the recently worked soil was drying out with all of the wind. A couple of Nancy's potted blanket flowers were wilting in the hot sun with the wind as well as some of the cucumber and tomato plants were being blown over. I hand watered them a couple times during the day as well.
Well since I was playing pickle ball at 6 we decided to eat early to give me time to digest. Nancy made Salmon cakes and sauteed zucchini and onions, yeow what a flavor with a touch of parmesan cheese on top. One of the players invited me this morning(Wed.) to go trout and bass fishing in a private lake that I fished in last summer. We were catching 3-5 pound trout on fishing worms with light tackle and believe me when I say these trout are strong and refuse to give up with their strength but they are so delicious when battered and fried. I hope we are as successful as last time we fished this huge private lake.
Well that was about it as I was worn out by those younger players as it was nearly 8 before I got back to the cabin. Nancy had been hand watering her flowers as well as the new lettuce seedlings. The temps were dropping down into the high 40's overnight and I could feel the change as the sun set. I did get in a few minutes of the O'Reilly Factor before heading for a hot shower and then I curled up with a good read until nearly 10'ish, LATER
