Well I hope you remembered to April Fool someone on Friday, I caught Nancy a couple of times and GG once but forgot about it with Amy and the kiddos. It was no joke that the heat and humidity have settled in once again in typical Florida fashion for this time of the year. There is rain in the forecast for today and much cooler temps by early next week with some 50's at night but I'm a little skeptical about it getting that cold, anyhow it would be nice.
I started the day with my usual 6'ish rollout and after a few quiet minutes to honor my Creator and lift up those I know and love, I posted the ramble from the day before then ate a lite breakfast of fruit and cereal before riding out on my bike for some 2 hours or so of pickle ball at the Rec. We had 3 courts in action and a few waiting to get on throughout the morning. I had a good run for about an hour before finally losing a set and getting a rest break. My shirt was soaked and dripping but it felt good and gave me a high for the rest of the day. I made a stop at the library for a new read by Sandra Brown before heading home to piddle around in the garden.
I hand watered once again and pulled some weeds then touched up the mailbox post with some paint as the mower had chipped away some near the bottom and then a couple spots on the ceiling of the front porch. I picked more tomato's as soon as they start to turn because if I don't the fruit fly's eat away on them and they soon rot. These tomato plants were all volunteer and the larger tomato's are from I don't know what type but they are delicious and plentiful. Amy, GG and Eliza all came for lunch and I pulled out the leftover collards and heated them up and Amy and GG were very pleased with their flavor. I had enough to share a small bowl then I finished them with some leftover Easter ham slices. This ham was also very well prepared with a nice citrus glaze doctored up with some Triple Sec liquor. (Pap Pap) Nancy's dad always made this glaze whenever we had baked ham.
Well after Amy left with Eliza to pick up Ava and Sam we took GG home and then headed to Sam's Club for some goodies. We needed fresh Salmon for tonights small group dinner as well as the individual frozen Salmon fillets for us and GG. We get a 3 pound package for about 20 bucks which has enough individual wrapped fillets for 6 meals. That's a good price when it costs almost that for one meal out at Bonefish Grille. We picked up a couple pot roasts as we wanted to have that with our home grown carrots and onions next week. We made a stop at Aldi's after dropping GG 's order off. We mainly picked up fresh fruit at Aldi's as theirs is reasonable and fresh. Their business is booming after many folks learned they now take credit cards where before it was only cash purchases. You still bag your goodies and they stock the floor in bulk but the savings is great. We still don't buy their meat but I look at it and it looks okay. The eggs are a huge savings as it the dairy products and their California vino at 3 bucks a bottle.
Well the Ross grand kiddos were coming for supper and they love Nancy's Italian bean soup which tastes a little like Zuppa soup. I picked a lot of fresh kale from the garden which she added to the soup. This soup is my favorite as it has just several varieties of canned beans with the Italian sausage in a beef stock broth. The kiddos all had second bowls as did I. We had fresh fruit salad for dessert as well as the last of the ice cream from Easter. I eventually popped then corn after their baths. They were her until nearly 11 as Amy and Tyler had a date night with dinner out and a movie. I was up until after 11 which is unusual after my shower, LATER
