Well Thursday was another busy day filled with tons of work both inside the cabin and in the gardens and yards plus another shopping day at the Food Lion in Sparta to the tune of 400 bucks, oh well we should have plenty of grub to last this coming week when son Bobby and family arrive later this evening from Brandon, Florida.
I started out the day with my usual 5'ish rollout to my morning routines that start with some quiet moments to honor my lord, Jesus, give thanks for another and to lift up several by name for comfort and healing. All seem to be holding with this post. I headed out to check on the gardens and flower beds before a breakfast of avocado toast and dippy eggs and then to load the truck with several bags of garbage that included a lot of what I usually compost and bury, because there are bears in the area and we have decided to forgo composting this year and put it all in the garbage bin. I also had some items that needed throwing away after cleaning out the basement plus an item we dropped off at the thrift store while in Sparta.
We made several stops in town one of which was to pick up a couple loaves of fresh baked bread at a specially store, then a stop at the library and then out to the landfill, then Walgreens for a script for Nancy and finally the grocery store where we found rib eye's on sale at 8.99 a pound. That is a good buy and they so far over the years have been delicious as well as tons of other stuff. The cupboards are full as are two fridge's and freezers. I finished up the leftover pasta for lunch then headed down the driveway with the weed eater and hedge cutters to clean up the driveway of tall grasses and some limbs and tree debris that was poking out from the ditches. When neighbor Gerald gets here we will have to use his tractor to pull all of the trees out of the ditches and saw them up as the ice storm dropped many trees tops into the driveway. What a mess that is but at least we can navigate along the driveway for now.
We ate leftovers from last night supper with the Frankis family and then took a golf cart ride to the top of the mountains and saw no one out an about there so we decided to head down the mountain where we did see some neighbors down below and stopped and visited with Mike, Linda and Elaine for a spell who live along the area about midway in our lane. Mike will help me later in the summer to wire my electrical box for the generator I bought last year in case we lose electricity like last summer when the hurricane came through this area.
Well I tuned into the Ray's game after dark and they were losing as I hit the shower and was soon ready for some horizontal lab around 10'ish. That hill with the weed eater plumb wore me out but I think I'm starting get back into shape with all this physical work, LATER
Today I'll mow the yards and set up the badminton nets and get ready for the gang to arrive for a supper of spaghetti and meat balls which Nancy prepared yesterday and all we have to do is heat it up.
