Saturday Morning August 31st

Well August is history for this year and its been an eventful one to say the least. It was hotter than blue blazes again yesterday, Friday, but at least we did get some rain in the late afternoon and some over night which was needed. Hopefully we can get back to some normal temps although the mornings have been pleasant. I started the day with my well before 6 rollout to my routines that begin with some quiet time after posting this ramble to honor my lord, Jesus, give thanks for another day and to lift up several by name for comfort and healing. All seem to be holding with this post. I headed out to check on the gardens and get some exercise walking the perimeter and on the condition of the bee kill over night; sure enough no bee's were evident around the two holes in the ground, after I left the bottles that had the gas and wick that I shoved into their nests. That is a proven killer of these nasty bee's and their nests. I'm still feeling the effects of their attacks on me on the legs and hand.

I decided after cleaning up around the stump to once again lite a fire on it and had it burning in no time with the lighter knots. I had it totally engulfed in flames for several hours and reduced it down once again to about 2 to 3 more burns before it will be below ground level. I can then cover it up with dirt and sow grass. I decided to clean out from under the front porch which is a huge storage area which I had old lumber from when the cabin was first put under roof. I had to use the new recip saw to reduce the long pieces down for the fire and I dumped 3 gulf cart loads of old lumber on the fire which had it going for about 8 hours. The rain probably soaked it so much last night that I will let in dry out until next week before burning again. I do want to drill some holes in the stump today to facilitate the next burn. That was about all I got done today except for the afternoon when I helped Nancy get ready for the Luffman Family for supper and Sequence.

We bought premade ground chuck burgers which were delicious to say the least at Wal-Mart as well as dogs for the grill and Nancy had tater tots and then cookies and ice cream for dessert. Kay brought Cole slaw and Mechelle brought a couple cans of baked beans which we heated in the microwave. Everything was delicious to say the least then we played 4 games of Sequence and the men finally won for a change. They all left around 8:30 after a 6'ish start and then I did the clean up and settled into the Ray's game on the laptop. I think they are out of any post season games as they continue to lose both on the road and at home. Too bad as they were doing well the first part of the season, LATER
