Thursday Morning October 7th

Well Wednesday was a total wash out with rain off and on for most of the day. We did see the sun in Galax but here on the mountain we were fogged in for most of the day and night. We received over an inch of rain on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and several more gully washers last night. Its supposed to be just showers for the next couple of days but with moderate temps which is good because if it were in the 30's we would be snowed in with all this rain.

I started the day much the usual except I missed both the early morning hike and then again the hike together later in the day. We did get some walking in at the Wal Mart and other stores in Galax where we loaded up again with goodies some of it went to the shoeboxes for Samaritans Purse which is always fun to shop for and hopefully make a difference in some young person's life. I did my quiet time giving thanks and lifting up several for comfort and healing. We got word our neighbor at the top of the mountain is coming today with hospice as he wants to see his cabin and the mountains one last time before passing on. He has been very ill and has requested a plane to bring him up from Florida. Hopefully we can see him and his wife and say good bye as he will just be here for a short time.

I ran several errands in Galax after dropping Nancy off at the big store to shop. I had my ears lowered then made a gas stop. It's over 3 bucks a gallon here. What a change from 2 years ago before the fraud Biden took office and decided to destroy America. It's sickening and so unAmerican to think our supposed leader is set on destroying the nation and making life hard on the working/middle class. How did this happen I ask. I'm ready for a revolution much like the 1700's. We got back on the mountain around 2'ish and had a lite lunch. Nancy was in her glory in the kitchen as she prepared a cobbler to take with us to Jake and Katelyn's for supper and making a huge salad for our guests on Thursday evening arriving from Florida. I added Swiss chard, beet greens and kales to the mix along with a couple radishes all from the garden.

We had to buy cucumbers which broke my heart as we had such delicious home grown ones for the past couple of months along with tomato's which are almost gone as well. I still have few left but they are quickly leaving with several starting to show signs of rot and I eat at least one a day. What a banner crop this year on both of these. We headed out a little after 5 for the Frankis's place and loved up on baby or now toddler Skylar. She is just precious and so smart. They have all kinds of livestock on their small farm with horses, chickens, goats and dogs. Katelyn is quite the farm girl and Jake is very good with his hands creating, building and all around known how on most things. We are excited for the redo on the kitchen which he will complete hopefully this winter when we are back in Florida.

Well after a supper of corn beef, cabbage, taters and carrots we settled into to some Oh -ell card games which they love. We played until close to 9:30 when we decided enough was enough after having fresh black raspberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream for our dessert. We picked the berries this summer and had them frozen for cobblers after making two batches of jelly to give away. They are the best berry ever. We saw several deer out on the overcast night on the way back to the cabin and when we got close to our mountain it was socked in once again with fog as it is this morning. The rain has stopped briefly which is good but we heard heavy down pours at times throughout the night, LATER
