Well Sunday morning was another beautiful morning as the day started with temps in the low 60's with a nice breeze and blue skies. It was worship day with a gathering of believers at Cornerstone and while the attendance was down somewhat with lots of folks including our pastor and his family on vacation. We had a Gideon speaker who presented us with a special slide presentation from numerous foreign countries and just what that small New Testament meant to so many people hungry for the Word of GOD. The message was inspiring despite the secular progressives attempt to drive out our principles and beliefs this country was founded on. I say to them we are alive and well and still spreading the word that JESUS is the difference in a fulfilling life and afterlife.
We picked up our mountain buddy Caleb and took him with us to church and then we had lunch at the Pizzeria afterwards. We had to run several errands while in town and he was up for that as well. We visited about 5 places before dropping him off at his house. He has grown into a fine young man and will be a great role model for the younger kids. He is quite the outdoors man as well. We headed home and unloaded our bounty from two groceries, the meat market and produce stand as well as prescriptions from Walgreens which took over the Kerr Drugs store in town.
The temps began to soar in town into the upper 80's and our "mountain mom" said it reached the low 90's at her place. We made it to 84 on the back porch but a nice breeze kept it to where I could do a few chores outside. I did spray more of the mildew on the shade side of the cabin and have just about completed that job with the exception of the top peak area which I will finish this morning (Mon). We did see one of our neighbor's pit bull dogs peaking through the woods next to cabin and we have learned this dog is vicious so Nancy had a long talk with Pam the owner via the telephone about these dogs of which she has 7,staying away from our property especially since we have grand children due here later this month. Nancy was firm that we would not tolerate their presence on our property and that she should keep them fenced while she is away for days at a time.
We had a large lunch of salad and pizza and we weren't hungry except for a few peanuts to hold us over for the evening. We did get in a hike around 6 or so and saw where the Brownings two oldest grandsons were visiting from Ohio. They were quite pleasant to speak with and my how they have grown since we last saw them. We were coming back down the road behind our property and I nearly stepped on a little bitty rabbit in the grass. We stopped an watched him or her for a few seconds then I petted it and after a couple strokes it took off up through the woods. It was so tame that I almost picked it up to bring it home to visit all of the rabbits we see each morning eating clover in the yards.
Well after a hot shower I started a new read by the author Lee Child. I must recommend the book FROZEN IN TIME about those who survived the long ordeal on the ice cap in Greenland and the attempt to locate the planes and bring the dead home for final closure, I think there was a documentary on these real life situations, but the book by Zuckoff is very well documented and well worth reading, LATER
