Well Wednesday found us down off the mountain to Elkin where we did some shopping but mainly to visit our "mountain mom" Helen who is in a senior facility and really is doing quite well for her 96 years young. She is lucid and while still some what limited on her movements she gets into bed and to the bathroom on her own. She loves tacos something new for her and now requests them when we bring her lunch. We had a great couple hours visit with her.
I had started the day with my well before 6 rollout to my routines that begin with some quiet times to honor my lord, Jesus, give thanks for another day and to lift several by name up for comfort and healing. All seem to be holding. I did speak with an old friend from my FHP days and we chatted for quite a spell. He was a rookie I had broke in and then we became very good friends with his wife and my first wife and then again when Nancy and I married nearly 45 years ago. He has had some severe health issues but sounded good on the phone and he and his wife, Jan have now moved to be close to his two kids and their grand kids in Jasper, Georgia.
We did some shopping both at Lowes and then again at Wal-Mart in Elkin before heading back up on the mountain. They had a rain shower while we were gone and it looked like rain the rest of the day, but it stayed dry. The grass and gardens are looking good since we started to get some rain and now once this threat of Debby moves on I want to put some lime on the backwoods yards as the moss is showing up in places once again. We ate lite for supper with some cold chicken on a bed of salad and an ear of corn and then settled into the LLWS as well as the Ray's game which they blew again to the Cardinals. Its not looking good for them in the post season right now, oh well.
That was about it for the day. I'm just blown away with all of the awesome and sweet comments and well wishes I received the past two days for my birthday, wow. Many thanks to all who made that day special because I was so saddened to lose my pickle ball partner who was a few months younger than me so suddenly a week ago. I still haven't heard any news about a funeral or even an obituary, LATER
