Saturday Morning

Well we started the New Year's Day with a sleep in until 7:30 after getting to bed sometime around 12:30 'ish. It was certainly different than waking up before 6 to the dark but hey I had worked hard the day before and was up late as well. It's been many moons since I've had that luxury, oh well. I spent most of the morning outside in the yards and gardens and then helped with getting the house ready for another family get together with our traditional meal to start the new year.

I mentioned I slept in due to the late night to start the day and then I did my usual routines with a few quiet moments with my Creator, my daily discipline for personal growth and then the posting of this ramble from yesterday's activities that took up most of the day. Each year I explain why I make this daily post so bear with me. I want my grand kids to know who we(their grand parents) are and have a small taste of what life was like for us after we are gone. I know its rather boring as we aren't in some wagon train crossing the barren desert or climbing some mountain with panoramic views of the promise land below of some fertile valley. I often think I would have loved to live in the era as I explored new lands and met different humans even if some were savages who wanted to take my scalp.

About the most exciting thing for me now that I've hung up my badge and gun and put the uniform in moth balls is to grow gardens, play pickle ball, read and hike the mountains at the cabin in N.C. Time has been good to me as I start my seventh decade here on this earth. I've lost faith in a lot of my fellow Americans as they seem to put their heads in the sand and let our heritage slip away with the corrupt leadership in our government and how they circumvent the very constitution that made us such a unique country in just a few hundred years. We have been lax in defending the very values that come from being at one time a Christian nation and now we are losing the strength of our police force and military that made us a nation of protecting the defenseless and doing what our mores and culture invoked in our Judeo-Christian principles. We have allowed the government to promote the killing of unborn babies as individual choice, gay marriage  is now a law, illegals to infiltrate the land who needless kill in the name of some abhorrent prophet and such unbridled corruption in our elected leaders. I think we are in for some rough times as we have taken GOD out of the land to appease a few radicals.

Anyhow this coming year will be a major turning point on whether we completely self destruct as Rome once did or we become a nation of people who turn back to our values and culture that made us a nation to be reckon with on the world stage. I fear for the well being of those who openly profess their love of the one true GOD and his son JESUS CHRIST and his teaching. The destruction of the life we once knew has begun and we must take a stand to these who hate our way of life. This administration is the most corrupt I've ever studied and they have followed the route to destroy us from within and now more so on the world stage with back room deals to give the radicals the means to blow us up with nuclear weapons. Where have the decent common sense folks gone, I ask?

Well enough of my thoughts and we will see what happens in this next election. I hand watered the gardens and the recently transplanted onions look good as well as are the marigolds in the front yard. I did take and hour or so and hand watered the front yard giving it a much needed drink. It was another hot day and the a/c is running constantly. Bobby, Katie, and the kiddos came around 3'ish with their bikes and then Amy, Tyler and their kiddos came shortly after. The kiddos all took off on a bike ride in the hood along with Phoenix from across the street. Tyler eventually took the older kids on a long ride up to the college and on the nature trail while we watched football. The Florida teams didn't fare well at all this year. It looks as if Alabama and Clemson two southern teams will play for the bragging rights this year of the best team in the land.

We had a pot of black-eyed peas with ham seasoning which was awesome as well as a pork roast, smashed taters and sauerkraut along with kielbasa and Nathan hot dogs and yeast biscuits. I stuck with my resolution of no taters, no biscuits and no dessert. Amy made two chocolate pies with whipped cream but I persevered and passed on those delectables. After the clean up the kiddos had showers and baths before heading out somewhere around 8:30 and we sent plates of food home for Braden and Garrett with Betsy and Gus.

Well after putting the house back in order I hit the shower and watched a little more sports until 10'ish then I crashed. I hope all had a good time with family we learned that Paw Paw came home from the hospital and the diagnosis was dehydration to the best of the doctors abilities after several tests, LATER
