Well a lot has taken place since I last was at this key board. We are presently back in hot sunny Florida for a few days before we fly out to Lake Tahoe with our neighbors and friends the Botbyl's to meet up with our friends Patrick and Kathrine Tracy for about 2 weeks of vacation. This will be Nancy's first time beyond Alabama and on an airplane since she was a teen. We will leave from Tampa on Friday and return on the 24th of the month.
We had an uneventful trip down from the cabin on Labor Day. We had no traffic until we reached I-75 in Ocala then we hit major traffic but luckily no backup's or real slow downs. We left the cabin around 4 in the morning and reached the city of Tampa somewhere around 2:30. It was another hour before we made it home as the traffic in Tampa made for some slow movement especially with the heavy rain. At least the rain helped to wash the love bugs from the truck as they have certainly made their presence known. The skies were cloudy with major looking storms in the distance and the ground was leaking water into the streets. The grass was nearly 8-10 inches in height and the gardens were covered in a foot or more of grass and weeds.
We unpacked and tried to get things in some semblance of order after being gone since May. We loaded up some of the produce I brought back from the cabin and headed over to GG's for a cookout with the family. Everyone was there and we got to see Bobby's new truck as well. I even took it for a spin around the block and wow does it ever drive nice. We feasted on brats, dogs, mac and cheese, potato salad and regular salad as well as baked beans and homemade cookies. Well it was especially great to see Ava, Sam and Eliza Faye our grand kiddos on Amy's side of the family. Eliza at first was a little unsure of us as it's been 4 months since she last saw us but she quickly overcame her shyness. We headed home after the clean up just as dark was settling in. The skies were looking like a major storm was on the way and it did rain and storm during the night. It was so hot and muggy and the a/c hasn't stopped since we've been home.
I headed for a hot shower then a few moments of the college game before succumbing to the sand man. I didn't sleep the night before as I was too keyed up besides I was up before 3 to get ready to leave. I have never slept the night before coming or going for some unknown reason and usually it takes me a couple nights to acclimate to the different bed, oh well. I was up this morning before 6 wake awake as I had several jobs that needed done before I could really enjoy being back to Florida. I needed to get us hooked back up to the internet, tv and phone and then get the yards mowed as well as remove the excess grass from the gardens before it grew any higher. I must have sweated a couple pounds off while doing these chores and then finally it was lunch time. So I'm taking the rest of the day off due to the heat and humidity. We need to go shopping for some birthday bikes for Annsley and Gabe as we celebrate them when we return from out west.
Well that's about it for now as we get ready to head out. I hope to maybe get a little pickle ball in tomorrow morning and give the knee a little workout. That's about it for now, LATER
