Sunday Morning Sept. 1st...Labor Day Weekend

Well Saturday was a day to remember with our adventure down to the FaithFest event in Wilkesboro, N.C. with the Tracy's. We met them in Laurel Springs just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and they rode with us around 11:30 AM and we got back there to drop them off around 10:30 last night. It was a full day and very well worth putting up with the heat and sunshine until around 4'ish when the stadium finally drew some shade and we began too cool down. There are some trees which gave great shade but we sat as close to the stage as possible and used an umbrella for our shade. I think next year we will either put our chairs out where we usually sit and take to the trees or set in the shade as we cooked for a couple hours.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish rollout to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric while I posted this ramble then spent some quiet time with my Creator  giving thanks and lifting up several. The rest of the day at FaithFest was also a really huge event of evangelism and praising our Creator as well in word and song by many different Christian artists. We ate lite for breakfast as we knew we were eating in Wilkesboro at Ted's Kickin Chickin which was recommended to us by Mechelle. The place was a small home grown eatery which was jumping with folks eating in and the take outs were many. I must say despite it being a small place the food was awesome and our server who was everything all by her self earned her tips today and she said it was like this always. She took our orders, filled our drinks, cashier, busboy, etc and was so pleasant as well. Much different than the one server at the Red Dog on Thursday who had an attitude, Oh well.

We got to the venue around 1:30 and learn a little each time we go on how and where to park and how to drop the gals off near the entrance with our coolers and chairs. This is the third annual event and so far we have made all three and the crowds are larger each year. The 5-6 acres were jammed packed with folks from all ages; infants to some who could barely walk and many in wheelchairs. The venue is a large grass covered bowl in the middle of the Community College with two stages and huge screens set up so the folks in the back can get closeup of the two stages. The food trucks were everywhere along the edge of the bowl with several huge tents selling merchandise and a place where you can meet the artists, get autographs and buy their merchandise as well plus a huge prayer tent for the many who lives were given to Christ at the many invitations through the day and evening.

As I said before it was downright hot and this year they allowed and even sold umbrellas for shade. We brought one and will know next year for each of us to bring one. We shared the one and several times we sought the shade of the trees within the bowl. I would say between 10-12 thousand folks were there to see and hear some awesome Christian music most of which were praise and worship style but one group did old hymns with an upbeat style and they had only a keyboard. Most of the big bands were just that; big, loud and some very nice light shows especially the headliner King and Country who by the way are from Australia. Natalie  Grant could have been the headliner as well as several of the other groups which I believed numbered 10 plus some could evangelism messages from guest speakers. All of these bands were awesome and we put faces with the music we hear on K-Love and the Message radio stations that play Christian music.

The drive back to the cabin did feature a couple deer along the parkway but we had four of them walk up our driveway after we first got up in the morning. They were very large does and they just meandered through the yard until I scared them off. I'm sure they were the ones who had been eating away on my garden plants and flowers, Oh well hopefully I'll be eating them next year after hunting season, LATER

Just a couple pics and if you look closely into the trees next to the driveway you will see 3 of the 4 does almost on the front porch of the cabin. The others are from the venue at the event which started at 2 PM and we left early before the final headliner band was through so as to beat the traffic out of the venue which had one main road in and out. We took a back way from the college to beat the traffic jam.
