Monday morning in the mountains

Well what a change in climate in just 700 miles. The high temp for Sunday may have reached 70 on the back porch which started out around the 50 degree mark. Ahhh is all I can say after seeing 96 at 6 o'clock on Friday evening. I'm sitting here looking out at all of the natural beauty and hearing the dew drip down from the dormer onto the tin roof. The quietness is almost surreal except for an occasional bird singing in the trees. I love this time of the day as I give thanks and lift those up who are in need of some special consideration by our LORD.

Sunday at Cornerstone we received many hugs, handshakes and "we are so glad to have you back at home". There are times like this when I could call this place home except maybe for the winters, oh well! We heard a good sermon on "walking the talk" from the book of Peter and the music was inspiring as well. Cornerstone had many new faces as well and we missed seeing some old familiar faces. There seems to be a larger group of teens as well which is a tribute to Daryl and Rhonda Blevins leadership.

We turned down a few requests for lunch out as we have just too much to do especially with my getting in the ground my seedlings which look good so far. I did manage to transplant some cabbage seedlings we purchased on the way home at the vegetable stand as well as get some red taters for planting. While earing a quick lunch of soup and hot dogs neighbor Gerald stopped back for a visit then I headed out with the shovel, hoe, rake and wheelbarrow of seedlings.

I planted onions, kale, taters, beets and Zinnia's in the upper and back beds. I need to work on the large garden plot in the lower yard but I think I will head up to the top of the mountain and get the rotor-tiller. It's just to large of a plot to do by hand even though I use to do it. I weed whacked around the flower beds for Nancy so she could weed them and that kept her busy for several hours. We worked outside until 8:30. I got the golf cart running after charging the battery and then the riding mower started right up, so I mowed over what Gerald had mowed until I could no longer see.

After a hot shower I was fading fast and I headed for some horizontal lab around 10. The air had cooled down and Nancy had a sweat shirt on but I thought the weather conditions were perfect for some hard work. We put an extra blanket on the bed with all of the windows closed as the temps were dropping fast. Looking forward to this weather again today as I want to edge and mow the rest of the property as well as plant beans and corn. I sowed several pots of lettuces as well. We still don't have any phone service and hopefully we can get that rectified today, LATER
