Tuesday Morning July 6th

Well Monday was another near perfect day for weather here in the mountains. A cool start in the upper 50's and it stayed in the upper 70's with maybe an 80 at times but the nice breeze made it quite comfortable throughout the day. I did some work and then we were invited down to neighbor Gerald's for a cook out and we met another couple who we had met the man somewhere before as he was a local man from Galax. Anyhow it was a fun time of getting to know new folks and sharing some fantastic smoked Boston butt and many side dishes.

I fired up the riding mower and spent two plus hours mowing the yards and working in the yards and gardens. I have a zucchini that will be ready to pick in a day or so and now several small tomato's are evident to every plant. I'll soon have beet greens to add to the salad bowl as well. I fertilized the flower beds especially the hydrangeas which was showing some lighter green leaves which is a sign of nitrogen deficiency. Several of the these large plants are just loaded with blooms. It's been a beautiful few days for the gardens.

I started the day much the usual with a before 6 roll out to my routines that always start with a cup of tea while I post this ramble and then spend some quiet moments with my Creator and Lord in thanksgiving for another day as well as lifting several up by name for comfort and healing. All seem as well as can be expected. I took off on my non stop morning hike to the top of the mountain before breakfast and it was a glorious time to be out in the woods in the fresh morning air as I spent a few minutes talking with GOD along the way. I'm not sure how I would handle a voice from Heaven if He answered me, oh well. We didn't get in our together slow hike due to being at Gerald's around 4 as Nancy was in the kitchen making a mixed veggie casserole and a black raspberry cobbler which was delicious to say the least. Every dish was very tasty and Phylis and Gerald set the table with tater salad, Cold slaw, baked beans and of course some stuffed olives with jalapeno's to get the gastric juices flowing while we imbibed some adult beverages before hand. It was a fun time and Gerald's new mate is a keeper.

We got back to the cabin in time to watch both the Ray's win in the last innings and I watched a tough 4 th game against the Canadians which they won in the over time period after I had retired for the eveninmg and now we must go back to Tampa for the 5 th game. Hopefully we will close out the season with a win there on Thursday night and keep the Stanley Cup at home which really I was hoping they would do instead of winning away from home, LATER
