Saturday Morning

Well Friday found us in Galax, Va. shopping once again. It was rather chilly to start the day with temps in the low 50's not far from the 40's, yeow does that mean Fall is upon us here in the month of August. We did get in a hike after getting back from town and then I mowed the yards until supper time. The day turned out beautiful with temp reaching the low 70's with bright sunshine and blue skies. We are hoping for good weather today Saturday as we travel down the mountain to Wilkesboro for a Faith Fest which features several Christian recording artists, some which we have met personally.

The day started much the usual for me with a 6'ish roll out. Nancy did her morning sleep in until nearly 8 as she is a night owl. I did my routines, prayed to my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting up several by name. We had good news on both GG and Paw Paw yesterday as it seems they are both recovering to some extent. She was able with assistance to actually do some walking albeit with a walker and attendants and her catheter was removed as well. The bleeding in the brain for Paw Paw seems to have stopped and at this time no surgery is needed for him. We are thankful for this good news and to all who have lifted them up in thoughts and prayers. Their ages aren't the best with him at nearly 90 and her soon to be 89, oh well.

We got ready and headed over to Galax and made several stops along the way as well as stocking up at the super Walmart. I also gassed up as the price will surely rise in the next week or so with the hurricane in Texas where most of our refineries are located. The supple and demand will raise the prices no doubt which is the way it should be. We met up with neighbor Gerald briefly who was up for the day and is planning on coming up with his family over the Labor Day weekend. Our hike was uneventful as we neither saw or spoke with any of our mountain top neighbors. The weather was perfect for hiking with dry cool air.

I had set the battery charger on the mower and it was ready to go when we got back from our hike. I then mowed for then next hour and half until supper time. I skipped the backwoods yard as I just mowed it last week and it could go another week or two. Nancy cooked the green beans with taters and bacon and the broth was excellent along with a couple ears of fresh corn on the cob, yeow what a tasty meal. I headed out to work in the garden until dark and found out why I was losing lettuces and Swiss chard. Cut worms where having a smorgasbord with these two plants and I found several fat worms while loosening up the soil and weeding. Needless to say they were squashed.

Well there was no little league game so I tuned into the Ray's game via the internet and their bats had come to life and were leading 4-1 over the Cardinals when I decide to hit the showers. Afterwards I read for a bit until the sandman calleth a little after 10, LATER
