Well it has been a busy fun filled 2 days of family, extended family, and gastronomic delights. Wow was I ever whipped last night after everyone left sometime around 9' ish. The grand kiddos were buzzing around with their new toys right up until they left for home. I sure wish I could conjure up some of that energy, anyhow it was wonderful with everyone being here to celebrate this time of the year and with our visit to celebrate with our extended family.
The morning started with us abbreviating our usual morning routines as we were having our Christmas morning breakfast with family, friends and neighbors. There was lots to do before folks starting to arrive between 9 and 10 when we had planned to eat. Bobby came early with the breakfast egg casserole which was delicious and plentiful. (actually I think there maybe enough leftover for breakfast this morning along with a couple biscuits) Nancy has a double batch of hash browns in the skillet and then Amy brought a huge blueberry pastry and Carol Botbyl brought her famous cheese blintz's and GG had a huge bowl of fresh fruit salad. Wow did we ever put on the feedbag(horse term) for the next hour or so. Patrick came by without Kathryn and took her a plate and even Andy Botbyl came by unexpectantly to see Bobby and chowed down as well. It was going on twelve before all but Bobby and Amy and their kiddos and GG and Katie left so we could open gifts.
Well the kiddos were so filled with anticipation of what was hidden by all the wrapping papers we could barely contain them with wrapping paper and bows flying through the air. They soon realized what one would open the other would be getting the same gift from us. We just ordered double of whatever we had planned for the older kids except for Eliza Faye. They all loved the toys especially the fart gun which I knew would be a big hit with boys. It looked like a gun from the Star Wars movie and they were at times rather obnoxious with it, so we had to restrain the use but all in fun.
Most of the gifts I was blessed with were ones I could use especially with the grill and it needed some new parts and then gift cards from the ProBass Shop. Nancy got a beautiful meat platter of which we served our delicious and perfectly roasted sirloin roast on later in the evening. We had smashed taters and an awesome gravy along with fresh green beans and carrots and a fresh garden salad and a little vino to get the juices flowing. There was plenty of dips and salsa as well to munch on before we ate sometime around 6'ish. I was still full from the morning breakfast feast.
Bobby, Katie and the kiddos did not make it for the evening meal as Annsley and Gabe went with their mother and her family. Bobby and Katie had an evening meal with Katie's family so we all got to share in their company. The kiddos had a grand time and everyone left with much bounty and full tummy's. Betsy(Nancy's sister), Gus and Garrett came for the evening meal and we sent a plate home for Braden as he was working late. We still have enough beef roast for another meal after sending some home for everyone. Nancy's chocolate mouse tarts and apple pie were the desserts and I tasted neither of the two, wow what will power that took. I need to cut back on all eats as I've been doing no real physical activity or workouts for the past couple weeks due to the knee injuries, oh well!
Well it didn't take long to put the house back in order after everyone left and then I hit the shower and was soon experiencing some horizontal lab by 10:30 ish. I almost forgot to mention we dined on our wedding china which was a big hit especially for Ava. I'm sure someday she will do the same after we are gone and Amy gets the china and will someday pass it down to her. Such memories are made for these youngsters. I still remember eating on china at my grandma's house when I was but her age and now I have that china. It is to delicate to use and will be passed on as well but our china we use once a year on this special Christmas occasion, LATER
