Monday Morning

Well Sunday was an awesome day of worship and we renewed old friendships at Cornerstone Church in Sparta, N.C. I was saddened as we missed one of our dear church members who had passed on to Heaven over the winter, Carroll was an awesome man as we got to know him before he ever gave his life to Christ and became a stalwart at Cornerstone. We got up with 10 other friends and met at the local Pizzeria for a delicious salad bar and pizza lunch buffet. Carroll had actually started that business many years ago when we first started coming to Sparta on vacations and all of my kids and friends knew him as he took many family photos of our gathering in his pizza parlor.

I slept in a little as I'm starting to unwind and getting things under control here at the cabin. With so much to do it was hard to sleep-in especially the first couple days. I'm sitting here looking out into the backyard woods to almost totally silence except for a crow off in the distance and the drip of dew on the tin roof. It's rather chilly with the morning air coming through the windows but oh so nice. It does get rather warm in the afternoons especially upstairs in the bedrooms so today I'm having an a/c rep come out and give me a quote on putting the mini-split ductless system in the cabin.

We headed over the Galax, Va. to the super Walmart and Lowes where we stocked up and then purchased bedding flowers and veggies as well as some seeds. I bought red and yellow bell peppers, jalapeno pepper and some cukes plus Nancy's variety of flowers both large and small. We got back around 4'ish and had missed several phone calls as she had forgot and left her smart phone at the cabin. We planted all of the flowers in the different beds and I moved the smaller beddings flowers in pots for the porches and steps. We decided to turn a portion of the circle drive into flowerings Black Eyed Susans which are perennials.

Well Nancy was on the phone for a good portion of the evening as she caught up on missed calls. I spoke with Paw Paw who was with the three girls at Dee and Mikes place in Woodstock for a dinner honoring their father. Everyone sounded good and sassy. Amy called and wished me well as did Bobby later on in the evening. He had Annsley and Gabe for a fun filled weekend and the kiddos wished me well. He later in the evening wrote a tear jerking comment accompanied by a photo of us together when he was probably 4 or 5 years old and then several folks commented. Wow I never knew I had left such an imprint on folks lives. Even Beau Fallon who I helped raise for a year or so while his dad was in Vietnam wrote a great comment on our relationship. I got my first taste of being a dad to an 11 year old boy with him and he still honors those times with such kind words.

I popped a bowl of corn the old fashion way and that was our supper after a huge plate of salad and 5 pieces of pizza for lunch. We watched a little part of the movie Overboard which is a classic with Goldie Hawn, so cute and a great message about what makes you happy in life. I hit the shower and was soon ready for some horizontal lab around 10:30, LATER
