Well Wednesday was a mixture of some small little piddly jobs, another trip to Galax, Va. for shopping and then some pickle ball in the evening hours but we finally received a really good rain which was much needed. I could almost see the grass growing as the yards were inundated with some heavy rain at times. The temps dropped dramatically with the clouds and rain from the upper 80's to low 70's. I checked the rain gauge after the first big storm and a half inch fell in 30 minutes and then it rain off an on the rest of the evening. Myself and 4 other guys actually played pickle ball on a non skid court in a soft rain for an hour or so before the sun came out and the skies cleared.
The day started much the usual with a before 6 roll out to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and ginger root while I posted this ramble and then spent some quiet time with my Creator. Speaking of quiet time is so nice here at the cabin in the early morning hours with just the sound of dew dripping onto the the tin roof from the dormer and an occasional lonely crow cawling in the distant and birds singing as day break occurs. I hear none of the usual city sounds associated with humanity. I lift up several each day for healing, comfort and miracles for those I know who are going through some rough health issues as well as my own concerns and needs. At this time all seem as well as can be expected. I do lift up our Potus Trump as well as our military and those of the badge family of which I served both proudly; 7 years in the USAF and 30 years as a trooper
We headed off to Galax around 10'ish and made a couple stops in the old city which is quite quaint with narrow streets, small shops and a yuppie eatery called Macado's for lunch. The place was crowded and each day they have a special and today was Southwestern foods at a decent price; so we each had a grilled chicken quesadilla with salsas and sour cream. Delicious and filling. We left there and stopped at a women's clothing store called Cato's for Nancy so I walked over to the Tractor Supply Store and perused the many manly items and met a young lady who remarked on my Tampa Bay Ray's shirt. She grew up in St.Pete and now lives in Sparta with her grand mother. She was very sweet and friendly and is looking for a better paying job. She is a massage therapist and is looking to get her license in Va. but in the meantime working at the supply store.
We headed to Wal-Mart after she purchased several blouses, once again we stocked up. I needed barn paint for the red shed which was a steal at 14 bucks a gallon as well as some corn on the cob at 25 cents an ear. The place was packed as everyone was stocking up for the 4th of July celebration. We too are celebrating at Mechelle's place with the Luffman's as we will meet her newest boyfriend who is a paraplegic and can enter her house through the garage. Seems they went to school together and were friends back when. He suffered an auto crash which left him paralyzed from the neck down many years ago but he drives race cars with his adult son and lives on his own. We will meet him for the first time today(thur.) She is excited for this meeting as she is in the doldrums after Caleb left for the basic training on Monday. I'm sure we will teach him the game of sequence as Kallie and Juan are home for the holiday.
We got back on the hill around 3'ish and unloaded before the rain clouds settled in and gave us a drenching. It just about settled down the time I picked up neighbor Gerald who is back at his cabin as we headed out to Roaring Gap Club for pickle ball. The storms were in the area and while it did sprinkle at times it actually felt good to cool off. The aluminum court has a non-skid surface so there is no fear of slipping and sliding unless you lose your balance and Gerald did that in the first game. He crashed skinning his arm and leg going after a shot. It's been 4 years since he lasted played and he picked up right away with his good game except for the spill. He will be sore and stiff this morning(thur.) after the nearly 2 hour work out.
I watched the Ray's lose big in the 9th inning after tying the game. The relief pitching was awful to say the least after winning the first two games against the Orioles, Oh well.
Happy 4th to ALL and lets not forget those who keep US(A) safe and who serves in the military and in the badge family, LATER
