Well Tuesday was another work day that we saw sunshine, two hard rain showers and then a rather hot afternoon and finally a cool down around dark. We Face Timed with the Ross Family after supper and little Eliza Faye was so funny and cute. She constantly looked around the heads of her siblings to look into the screen of the Ipad to see us. My how both Ava and Sam have grown and we wanted to squeeze them all.
After my usual routine(s) I headed out to check on the burning oak stumps that had red hot coals underneath which was perfect as the last large piece was just sitting on the coals. I gathered up some loose debris from the yards and burned that and then pulled the last remaining piece of stump from the hole and then filled in the hole with dirt and eventually sowed grass seeds and covered the area with old hay to hold the moisture. It poured rain for about 10 minutes giving the seeds a good soaking as well.
We decided to get in our hike for the day. We got to the top of the mountain and saw our friends Sandy and Ann Cline. We sat on their porch and talked for nearly and hour before we noticed the sunshine suddenly changed to clouds and then it began to rain so we cut short our walk across the top and headed back down in the rain. Luckily it let up and then the sun once again peeped through the clouds and it cleared off. We had a nice fresh garden salad for lunch. Afterwards I headed out and fired up the riding lawn mower and for the first time in nearly 2 weeks mowed the yards. That kept me busy for a couple hours and just as I finished our friend Karin Hearl came by for a visit and brought us some bounty from her garden. Fresh egg plants and a spaghetti squash. We sat on the porch and talked for nearly 2 hours as it was almost 6 before she decided she had to head out.
I fired up the grill and put to sirloins on for fajitas as we decided beef and green beans would take too long prepare so Nancy sautéed some onions and peppers while the sirloins grilled and with some jalapenos, sour cream, cilantro and Taco Bell sauce we had delicious fajitas. It was close to 7 before we finished with the meal and the cleanup. We then got ready to Face Time with grand kids and it was a blast. We even got to see GG as she was at the Ross's for a supper of pot roast. Everyone looked great and Eliza has changed so much. After about a 1/2 hour or so of seeing them we tuned into the Fox News channel. I headed for the shower around 9 then got ready to read for an hour or so. Sandra Brown is such a good story teller that I read her when ever I get a spare moment, LATER Here is a photo of some Bibb lettuce that I have a hard time growing here at the cabin.
