Tuesday Morning July 28th

Well Monday was a beautiful morning to start the day with temps in the 60's with blue skies, bright sunshine and the birds were so happy as I listened to their singing through out the morning. It also was the second day in a row we took our usual hike to the top of the mountain as we try to get some what back into shape since my nearly a month of doing nothing but babying this back. I'm getting close to being back to where I was before this injury or what ever caused me so much pain for several weeks.

I started the day with a well before 6 roll out to my usual routines of a cup of hot tea, quiet time to honor my Creator and Lord Jesus while lifting several up for comfort and healing and just plain giving thanks and honoring Him. I'm also praying for peace among those who want to destroy this nation and for those who are guilty of such unrest to be brought to trial for their crimes. If we allow this kind of behavior to continue we will no longer be a nation of freedoms and liberties with a constitution that makes us all equal in the sight of the law and justice. The radicals are wanting to do away with our nation and impose what the Nazi's did to Germany with tyranny and anarchy. We fought two world wars to do away with these ideologies and now we have several who want to return to that kind of world.

Well I did piddle around in the gardens and yards catching up on some small minor chores and at times rested the back with an ice pack in place which seems to help immensely. I haven't used any kind of pain reliever or muscle relaxer in over a week so I'm thrilled. I do wear a back brace when hiking on the uneven and steep trails; but so far with a little stretching to start the day the back and knee are without any real serious pain. I believe the dull ache will always be there from the back operation of 50+ years ago while serving in the USAF. I'm actually thinking of maybe getting back on the pickle ball court later this summer or maybe I'll wait to when we get back to Florida this fall.

I grilled bone in pork chops for our supper and I did harvest in the early morning hours before the sun got to the gardens two huge collanders of Swiss chard, kale, beet greens and lettuces from the gardens. I cleaned and then spun them dry before breaking them up into our huge salad bowl which we keep filled in the fridge. The herbs are doing well except the parsley died due to the wetness of the garden. I'm now hoeing every day to loosen the soil and allow it to dry out. The backwoods yards are growing grass, now that all of those trees have been removed and the sunshine is driving the moss out. I now have more grass in the past several weeks in that area than in the last 10 years.

Well that was about it for the day as we so enjoy the beautiful clean fresh air and ambiance of being surrounded by the woods. Nancy loves hanging outside our laundry to dry in the warm sunshine and I love to just wonder about the property piddling with the gardens and seeing all of the new blooms. We have so many new flowering plants and now from the wild flower beds that we are seeing some new flowering plants. I'm writing this post as daylight breaks here in the mountains with the sound of the over night dew dripping down onto the tin roof and that breaks the stillness in the early morning. I love spending a few quiet moments with my Creator at this time as well, LATER
