Well I'm beginning to seriously think about building an Ark as it's now rained for 3 days and nights with just a small 2 hour window today during the lunchtime hours with sunshine, Yeow we are going to rust if it keeps this up. The morning started rather late especially for GG as she slept in until nearly 8; she actually went back to sleep which seldom happens for her after a daily wake up of around 6 AM. We all slept in due to the late night of game playing. She said the rain on the roof was loud(she has serious hearing problems) but at the same time monotonous thus creating sleepy conditions.
It was a day of eating that started with the "mountain breakfast" of buckwheat pancakes with ripe banana's in the batter and fried eggs. Betsy came down from her cave around 11AM and ate while the rest of us where thinking about lunch. I ventured out between the breaks in the rain and managed to rake some heavy patches of moss in the backwoods yards. I just needed to get out in the fresh air and walk around as my head was tired from all the talking created by 4 women; know what I mean!!
We sliced up some of the homemade loaf bread for sandwiches of ham, turkey, cheeses and of course lettuce, tomato and onions. The chips were evident as well as the pickles and ginger snaps afterwards. Wow is my spare tire going to blow up as we are getting absolutely no exercise except for when our elbows bend when stuffing the mouth. The rain has kept us inside or out on the porches but GG has been somewhat chilled since being here from Florida. It hasn't got much beyond the high 60's but I think it's just right.
After lunch the rain started with a steady downpour so we decided to play games which lasted until nearly 11PM with just breaks for the potty and phone messages as we are on alert for a visitor who came to the cabin a few years ago and who is past her due date. The last we heard before bedtime is a C section is on the table for Megan due to some complications after such a long time of being in labor. We prayed for her and the baby and kept up with her progress through out the day with text messaging from her sister. We played 5 Crowns and then started on a game of Domino's which we had to interrupt while feasting on a marvelous hickory smoked Boston butt that had been on for 7 hours. The meat fell off the bone and was just right. We did broccoli and oven taters as well as had a fresh salad to go along with this sumptuous meal. We resumed the dominoes after bending our elbows(thankfully we got a little exercise) then started on a new game of Logo around 9 PM after the clean up.
We played until nearly 11 and never finished this game(I was in the lead for a change) as some of us(me) developed TB(tired butt) from sitting for so long. Meanwhile the rain was a constant throughout the evening as well as into the night. I feel for sure the young seedlings in the garden are washed away but the established plants seem to be holding on despite some rain water washed gullies. Wednesday the forecast is for the same; rain and more rain. We are planning on going to Charlotte and visit with our nephew Austin and his family and bring or make some comfort food for him; Everett style. That will be about a 2 hours drive and in this rain could be quite an adventure as there are flood warnings in the areas.
I think I saw a duck go by with a picnic basket if that tells you anything as this is definitely duck weather, LATER Seems there wasn't much to photograph today as all of the rain drops are very similar.
