Well I guess the old saying that "April showers" is right as March went out with a roar with all the wind. The rain was an all day affair with some gully washers at times. It did knock most of the fuzzies from the oaks and brought out the new leaves which are refreshing to look at. We spent most of the day reading and then got ready for our small group minus Carol for a delicious supper. Carol was having some not feeling well and possibly over worked at her new job where Nancy and Kathryn volunteer.
The day started with us sleeping in until 7:30, wow what was that all about? The grand kiddos from the night before had us up late so we made up for it. After our usual morning routines of a few quiet moments and then the posting of this ramble we had a semi mountain breakfast minus the cakes with just eggs and ham. After the cleanup I headed out to check on the garden when the skies let loose and it got so dark out you could barely see to read without lights on. I started a new read by Sandra Brown titled FRICTION. Its a good read and I'm sure based on some factual incidents in this Texas Rangers life.
Out company was scheduled for a 4'ish date so we worked together with straightening up the house and getting ready. I cut up fresh green peppers from the garden as well onions and carrots. I grilled the Brussel Sprouts and carrots together first then added the fresh peppers, onions and Zucchini squash and then finally the fresh mushrooms and tomato's. It took about an hour to get these to perfection and then I grilled a slab of Salmon fillet loaded with lemon pepper and fresh dill from the garden. Kathryn had brought munchies that included dips and spreads and I made a guacamole as well. We nibbled and snacked on these while sharing a glass of vino and discussing our summer plans which are fast approaching and of course Bobby and Katie's wedding coming up in just 3 weeks.
Well the dinner was awesome especially the combination of the grilled veggies, Kathryn's brown rice and the grilled Salmon. We sent a plate up to Carol and hoped she felt better today for worship at Bridgepoint. We are taking our neighbor Carol and her son Michael with us as they want to try a church. He is a sophomore in high school and tells his mom all of the kids there are into things he doesn't approve of so, maybe he will develop some friends from Bridgepoint. Anyhow we are thrilled for both of them to at least give church a try. Nancy had cut up mandarin oranges, kiwi, cantaloupe, strawberries and blueberries for a fruit salad for our dessert. It looked good but I passed. Well since we were one short we decided to watch the NCAA final four games instead of a board game. Dan left early to be with Carol and then Patrick and Kathryn left towards the end of the first game as it was a blow out by Villanova over Oklahoma by nearly 50 points, yeow!!! The N.C. game was much closer over Syracuse but the Tar Heels prevailed.
Well after a hot shower I was ready for some horizontal lab. Today is our corporate worship gathering day at our new church and we are excited about serving there as well. We will volunteer a couple times a month. We didn't make the 7 thousand figure for Easter Sunday but was close at over 6 thousand in attendance. That says a lot if you just invite someone they will come. That's usually all it takes and once there we show them the friendly love and attention most folks desire. We have been at churches where no one speaks to you or acknowledges your presence especially in the smaller churches where everyone knows when a stranger or a guest is present. That is too bad as many folks as we were are turned off by that lack of acknowledgement. Both of us have signed up to be greeters a couple times a month and we are into handshakes, hugs and learning folks names which imparts out need to make them feel welcome, LATER
