Thursday Morning

Well Wednesday was a day with a new adventure for Bobby and his family and I went along as a chaperone for Annsley and Gabe while The Ross Family did a different venue. The day started with an early wakeup as we had a 10 AM date in Boone for some zip lining so that meant and 8 AM departure to leave the cabin. The weather was perfect on the way south along the Blue Ridge Parkway and even the first half hour after our arrival but then it turned wet and cold as the rain was constant and then a steady breeze made it feel even colder, oh well. I didn't bring a parka or any rain gear as I thought I would be reading in some quiet area but it was nothing as I had imagine; instead I was out in the wild but under just a canopy roof shelter with the wind and rain blowing steadily, yikes it was most unpleasant for and hour and half until the rain finally stopped and the sun finally warmed up the area and the two other adults with me.

Now speaking of the Zip lining I must say Annsley and Gabe took to the trees with such enthusiasm as they had 7 different lines while zipping somewhere around 15-20 feet off the ground and from tree to trees. They were wild with joy which helped to alleviate the miserable conditions on the ground and they never noticed it was raining as they did the circuit several times. Gabe said he did it 23 times which is not surprising to me as they would run to start the circuit again after the final down the barrel chute that marked the last zip line. Bobby and Katie were high in the air at over 300 feet as they had a set tour with 10 zips but some that were over 1600 feet in length that took them over ravines, bridges, gorges and even over our children's area.  Wow were they ever up there.

Nancy stayed back with the Ross Family and they took in a fascinating museum in Galax and walked the town's small blocks as well as headed out to the Farmers Market in Hillsville, Va. We got back before they did and did some laundry, picked and cleaned some lettuces and then relaxed until it was time for supper and afterwards a water gun fight. We were too tired to play any games but the kiddo's did watch some movie while others got showers. My large 50 gallon water heater had some difficulty keeping up with all of the dish washing, showers as well as laundry so we had to stagger the bathing. Nancy has been the last to shower late at night and mostly with tepid water so she and I got our's

after the kiddo's and by 10'ish I barely could keep my eyes open so I put in the ear plugs and headed for some horizontal lab, LATER

Here are a few pics form the days activities!!!
