Well Friday was nearly picture perfect weather. Cool enough to require long sleeves and brilliant sunshine with deep blue skies. Wow, was it ever a nice day. I managed to get a little garden and ditch work in as Nancy took her family into town for some shopping and Eric decided to attend a Catholic conference in Hickory where a friend from Florida was attending as well.
I tried to get the rotor tiller to run but it seems the carburetor is gummed up again as it sat all summer. I drained the gas tank and tried to get it running but to no avail. I will have to have Gerald to help me with getting the thing to run again. He replaced the old carburetor last year but since it sat up all summer the gas seemed to have gummed up the works as I tried everything to get it run. Oh well hopefully we can get it to run when he gets back.
I loaded up the golf cart with the hoe and shovel and headed down to the ditch between Gerald and our driveway. All of the heavy rain washed the ditch so where grass was growing the bank seemed to hold fast. I transplanted some grass clots and cleaned out the ditch to make it easier to move the water away from the road.
After working on the ditch I decided to work on the garden extension where I decided to put in a place to play badminton. It's a flat area and just perfect for playing the game. I hauled several loads of rocks to shore up the bank and then dug the earth to level out the bank. I was so busy I skipped lunch after the sausage biscuits for breakfast. Well that kept me busy until late afternoon when the gals got back from Sparta.
I grilled some marinated chicken breasts for supper and we put that over a fresh salad. We got into a couple games of Euchre and Betsy and Nancy whipped GG and I twice. Eric finally got back from Hickory around 9:30 and then we got into a domino's game which lasted until after midnight. I finally prevailed for a change on the last hand. It wasn't long before I was in the hot shower and then it was lights out around 1 AM.
Well we found out that niece Arianne will NOT be coming up from Miami and now cousin Austin and Megan will NOT be coming from Charlotte as well due to their toddler having a high fever. Hopefully we didn't cause to much of an imposition for those preparing this dinner due to the cancellations as well as cancelling our good friend Kallie Dalton who was going to babysit. Well the leaves are falling and the colors are really faded and winter is just around the corner, LATER
