Well we took Thursday and had a fun day with a little travel thrown in and of course some shopping and then a lunch date and several stops in between before a library visit. Yeow, we were on the go from about 9 until nearly to 4 o'clock before we got back at the cabin.
The day started for me with a before 6 roll out and then my usual morning routines of a cup of hot turmeric tea for my joints and especially for my knees. The knee pain is almost non-existent since I've been using this herb and I'm trying get Nancy to try it as her left knee will just not clear up from whatever she did to it a several weeks ago. In a way I was dreading the hills and stairs here because of the knee pain from months back, but I haven't even worn a brace since we've been here. I did my morning quiet time to honor my Creator and to lift up those I know and love and then I head outside to check on the gardens and recently transplanted plants as well as to smell the fresh cool air that no one has ever breathed before.
Nancy was up shortly after I finished up my morning routines as we wanted to be in Sparta around 9 to meet up with our dear friend Mechelle who has changed jobs since we left last November and now is the manager for a large Christmas tree farm(s) and also manages a large commercial overstock warehouse called KSN Enterprise. We stopped and looked around and found some great bargains one of which was a 4 burner Brinkman grille for 125 bucks, of course I already have an old grill that refurbished years ago which worked great but Nancy thought I needed a new one. The only caveat is I have to put this one together, Oh Well. We picked up a couple other items that were great bargains as well.
After we left there we headed out to the phone company to pick up an HDMI cord for the HD TV and wow what a difference that makes with the quality of the picture, its night and day difference in the sharpness and color. We made a stop at the library for reads I had ordered while still in Florida. I love the new system here in the mountains where you can have books delivered locally from libraries around the state which is just like our regional library in Seminole. We then headed to Independence, Va. to check on a furniture store where we bought our couches years ago to see if they had any TV stands that fit our needs. They had one but it was too costly when compared to the one we finally chose from Wayfair on the Internet and its shipped free to us at the cabin but once again; I must put it together, oh well!!
We made a stop in Galax for lunch at Macadoo's and had a great meal with spinach an artichoke dip as a starter and then we shared a great club sandwich, wow it was superb in taste and very filling. I'm sure glad we shared both of these entree's as you never leave there feeling hungry. We headed to Wal-Mart and stocked up and while there the skies opened with rain so heavy it sounded as if the roof was pelted with rocks, yikes did it ever rain and I managed just as it let up a little to retrieve the truck to load our goodies. We headed to Lowes hardware just up the road to load up on flowering plants as we needed to replace the ones that mysteriously disappear from our beds each year before we arrive leaving bare patches where they once were planted. We suspect a plant thief is at work before we come to mountains, Oh well!!!
Well we once more got a drenching rain as we loaded the truck then headed for home. Thankfully our rain gauge never showed but just a trace of rain whereas the Galax area must of had inches in such a short time along with lightning and thunder. We decided since we had such a filling lunch to skip supper and I popped some corn about 8'ish after getting back from the Browning's place where we helped thin out some of Jettas black eyed Susan's and a runner of a Rugosa rose bush. We came back and transplanted them throughout the various beds until nearly dark.
Well we watched some of the new TV and found a new version of "Roots" and I found it very interesting as I had read the book years ago. I soon found myself nodding off after a hot shower around 10'ish so it was nitey nite for me. I did manage a chapter in my new book by John Irving before lights out, LATER
