Thursday Morning

Well if I could pick and choose weather Wednesday was an awesome day but a little blustery with gusts that blew some clothes off of the line at times. It was still long pants temps for us thin blooded flatlanders but just right for the hearty with highs in the upper 60's. By late afternoon it nearly reached the 70 mark on the back porch. Today Thursday is supposed to be even better with higher temps and lots of sunshine but rain is in the forecast for the next few days and some cooler temps as well. We finally shut off the portable heater as we got the wood inside the cabin heated up enough to hold the warmth overnight.

I started the day with a 7'ish rollout and after my quiet time and a bowl of oatmeal(I now think of my good friend Patrick when ever I eat oatmeal) with some cinnamon, honey and a few Special K flakes to give it some crunch for my breakfast. Nancy followed suit as well and then I headed out to pump up the tire on my riding mower and add some enzyme called Startron to my gas which has ethanol. This enzyme is supposed to help with all of the problems that are consistent with using ethanol gas for any length of time in small engines. Neighbor Gerald turned me on to this product and even bought me my first bottle which by the way makes over 40 gallons of gas with just about 8-10 ounces of the enzyme. It also acts as a stabilizer for the gas when sitting for long periods of time.

I fired up the mower and mowed all of the yards, leaves included as many have fallen especially in the backwoods yards. The new green grass is so vibrant and lush and it seems the last coat of lime has helped. I want to give it one more coat of lime before winter and the leaves cover the grass for the winter. That keep me busy right up to lunch time when we had a small salad. After lunch I loaded up the chain saw and we headed over to our "mountain moms" beautiful log cabin to help with a few chores.

It was such a perfect day for working outside despite the rather breezy conditions. We took out her window a/c and sawed up and down a few small trees before sitting a spell and visiting. We got back around 3'ish and took a hike to the top of the mountains and the distant views were enough to see the buildings in downtown Winston-Salem. We stopped and sat a spell with Joe, Jetta and Zeke who followed us when we left as he wanted to go for a walk. It was good to see them again and they are getting ready for another winter. The news on Norm isn't any better but at least he is getting some much needed care in a facility and not having to be attended by neighbors.

We came back around 4'ish and I grilled some fish(cod and salmon) and along with fresh green beans; we ate lite and healthy. We need to keep this attitude for a few days but tonight we are having the Dalton's and Luffman's over for a spaghetti dinner and hopefully a game or two afterwards. I'm heading over to their farm later to pick up a bale of hay for Nancy's Fall motif and tomorrow we pick pumpkins with Kaitlyn and neighbor Gerald.

I headed out with Gerald around 6'ish for some couple hours of pickle ball. We had 5 players so you got a little break every 5th game. The play was fast and furious under the lights and the wind finally laid down and made little difference after dark. We had a great time with lots of exercise and plan on another game next week. Some of our regulars were gone on vacations but with 5 it made for some good cardio as the evening wore on. It was going on 9 before we got back to the cabin with stiff and sore muscles in attendance. It wasn't long after a hot shower I was in the horizontal lab position reading a new book by Sandra Brown titled RAINMAKER. The sandman was calling around 10:30 so it was lights out for me while Nancy was watching some RFD-TV about a feller down under who trains horses, LATER
