Well Saturday was another cold morning to start the day but by afternoon it was in the middle 70's with bright sunshine and blue skies. Now this is why we are in Florida for the winter or at least that's the way it should be. We actually opened the windows and doors for some fresh air for an hour or so. In the shade it was cool with a gentle breeze.
The morning started with me rolling out a little later than usual as the rec didn't open until 8, so I slept in until 6:30 'ish. After my usual routines of hot tea, quiet time and the posting of this ramble I had a bowl of cereal before heading out on my bike to the rec for some 2 hours of pickle ball. We had 3 courts going and 6 people waiting to get on. There were 3 or 4 of us advanced players so we seldom sat down as the winners stayed on the court with different partners throughout the morning. I sat out a couple times but ended the morning with a wet shirt. It was a good workout to start the day.
I headed home and the difference in the outside temps was at least 20 degrees in that 2 hour time span. Wow was it ever starting to get nice outside so I decide to work outside in the garden. I transplanted some Romaine and Bib lettuce seedlings. Then I took the blower and headed up on to the roof where I blew acorns, leaves and twigs from the roof. After a lite lunch of leftover collards, mac and cheese I headed back outside to work in the front yard. I dug up a trash can full of weeds that were starting to bloom and then hand watered the front flowers and grass. I was sweating in the sun as it was that hot. Back in the shade of the back yard out of the wind I decided to rest and read for an hour or so while working on getting some Vitamin D from the sunshine. I had hung a load of laundry on the clothes line and they dried in no time. There is something about having laundry outside on a clothesline that is homey to me.
Well we were having Dan and Carol for supper so I picked lots of lettuces, beet greens and herbs for the salad plus Nancy was making a garlic sauce with fresh mushrooms, butter, thyme and parsley over linguine with grilled marinated chicken breasts. We also had fresh green beans from the garden as well. Yeowza what a delicious supper and this is one we will have to have more often. She added a little white wine to the concoction as well for additional flavor. After the clean up we played 12 rounds of dominoes and Carole won by a nose over me which is unusual as I'm usually dead last as of lately. Well after they left I tuned into the fight channel and watched some good UFC action on Fox sports in between the Lightning beating up on Colorado in hockey.
Well today is church day in Tampa at Element. There will be many heavy hearts as we lost little Joey to his failed liver before a transplant could occur as well as several have lost grand parents this past week or so. There are a couple families having marital difficulties as well so we will be having a special prayer service tonight at the church for those needs, LATER
