Well it's been raining almost non-stop for 36 hours with an occasional break. We haven't seen the sun for that period of time or longer as well. What a nice soaking rain which we desperately needed; but I'm ready for a little sunshine to warm things up as it's in the low 50's once again to start the day.
We started the day on Friday with a 7'ish roll out to the rain on the tin roof with cool damp temps as well. After our usual routine(s) Nancy decided we needed to eat oatmeal and fruit after the red meat supper the night before. It was sometime in the mid-morning when she mentioned she had a burning feeling after urinating and with today being Friday I told her to see if Doctor K was in his office in Independence, Va. We were excited to learn he was in so she made an appointment as we didn't want to take the chance this could turn into something major over the week-end. It's been several years since she last had a bladder infection and that was a bad one. Low and behold it turned out to be what we diagnosed and the doc prescribed some drug and she is without any symptoms this morning after just one day on the medicine, thankfully!
We stopped off in town at Lowes after picking up the drug at Walgreens for a rotisserie chicken for supper. We decided we should forgo the trip down to Mt. Airy to the horse sale for the main reason of her ailment. She really wanted to attend that event but there will be one the first Friday of every month so we will have several to attend before the summer is over. We stayed in the cabin and read for the rest of the day until the evening news got our attention and then read off and on the rest of the night. I finished one Sandra Brown book and I'm nearly half way through another as she is a great story teller.
Tonight we are celebrating my birthday with a reservation only dinner at the Backwoods Bean Coffee Shop in Sparta. Matt is a chef by trade and is doing a 4 course meal with accompanying wine and this will be his initial startup venue. He is the son of our Doctor K who mentioned he will probably see us there this evening at 6 for the occasion. I got to know him and his father on the pickle ball court. Matt and his wife Becca who is from our area in Florida and who was a college culinary teacher run a small what started out as a coffee shop and now have extended it to lunch and now this reservation only dinner place. We are excited for them as they are a small business and do have great bakery goods and coffee type drinks. We are looking forward to experiencing Matt's chef abilities. It should be a fun evening and what a way to celebrate my 39th birthday for the 29th time, LATER
