Wow, I'm overwhelmed by all the birthday cards, wishes and phone calls on this day that I celebrated 73 years, Yikes now that does sound old but I must confess I still feel much like I did in my 30's and 40's. I love the physical activities which I think keeps you fit and young; my only complaint with age is the thin skin on my arms which I'm always tearing, skinning and bruising.
Well Tuesday found us with another beautiful less humid day with bright sunshine through out most of the day except for a couple time in the afternoon the dark clouds built but no rain. We had two loads of laundry outside on the clothesline and I did wind up hand watering the gardens later in the evening. I did some piddly jobs and one major job of digging and hauling three golf cart loads of fill dirt from my backwoods quarry for an area down below the garden spots which always give me a tendency to over turn when mowing. Hopefully by next year the grass will hold the dirt and make that area a smooth ride with the mower.
I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric while I posted this ramble and then spent some time with my Creator in thanksgiving for another day and year as well as lifted up several by name. All seem as well as can be expected at this time due to their age and health issues. I got word our "mountain mom" Helen will get her golf cart back from the shop today(wed.) which has become such a blessing for her. We were anticipating the old electric cart not being fixed or to costly but the fellow over in Galax did the job after picking it up and now returning it again today at a reasonable cost. I've used him before and now he will have all my business regarding golf carts.
The garden is setting some tomato's finally and the cucumber plants are spreading like wildfire but not setting fruit like it should. I'm maybe getting one a day at the most and sometime it takes two days, oh well. The ones I'm getting are so delicious and mild it makes it worth the wait. They will probably explode the 4 days we are gone with fruit. We didn't do much except read and check the social media for all the birthday wishes which were over a 100 at one time, wow I felt like a rock star and so loved. We ate our big meal around noon as I thought I was playing pickle ball but that fell through as we didn't have enough players so we snacked for our supper with guacamole, salsa and chips. We did get in a good hike to the top and sat for a spell at the Brown's house looking out over the mountain ridges as they have a grand view. (the picture at the end)
On the way up the steep back trail the Triplett grand kiddos sang Happy Birthday to me and Bobby asked them how old did they think I was; their answer was 52. When your 9 and 11 in age, 52 seems like old and 73 ancient, oh well we had a great laugh. All is well with Katie as she carries twins and is finally starting to really show. We are excited and thrilled as are Annsley and Gabe about the prospect of having new siblings and Annsley wants a girl as her step father has three boys. Gabe is just happy to be a big brother. We took a golf cart ride out to the mailbox after our hike and the deer were out in volume. We saw several along the road and many just stood there watching us before finally running and jumping into the woods.
Well I tuned into the Ray's game and now can watch them live on Nancy's ipad from our provider in Florida. Since they would not let me put the service on vacation due to some mix up, but at least Tyler fixed it to where I watch them live so I'm getting something for my monthly fee. It was a great come from behind game with a win in the extra inning. Well I soon hit the shower and some horizontal lab as it was way past my bedtime, oh well, LATER
This was view on our evening hike.
