Well I don't know if you got "fooled" yesterday but I always manage to get Nancy but not until lunch time. Amy said she got Tyler the first thing in the morning as she is a chip off the old block. Well Wednesday was another beautiful day with moderate temps and a gentle breeze but the humidity is slowly creeping back into the picture and we turned the a/c back on last night before retiring. The day started out much the usual with a 6'ish roll out. After my quiet time and a lite breakfast I headed out to the rec on my bike for a couple hours of pickle ball. We had 2 courts in action as many of our group was playing in the Good Life Games tournament in Clearwater. I opted out playing this year due to the funky knee that is holding up for now but since I have to give a 100% or more I didn't want to chance re-injuring it during tournament play. I would rather play everyday than be sidelined with the injury. Maybe next year or just play house tournaments in the future.
I stopped off at the library on the way home and picked up some reads for GG and myself. Both of these new reads are non fiction with one about the rescue of a pow camp during WWII in the Philippines and the other read is about a Vietnam fire base effort to survive the almost insurmountable odds against the NVA. I finished one of the craziest reads ever titled GHOST OF THE OZARKS by Brooks Blevins. The research to write this story is all encompassing and at times borders on almost too much information especially with the setting taking place in the south during the great depression era. Interesting read to say the least and whether or not you believe a murder took place.
Amy, GG and the three kiddos came for a lunch of salad and sandwiches. Little Sam has the beginnings of a head cold so he stayed in an watched TV while the rest of them headed outside to sit under the big oak. I headed for the reading room and started a new read called COUNTER/CULTURE by David Platt that we are starting for our house church discussion later in the evening. We headed out at 6:30 to the Botbyl House for our weekly get together house church meeting after a lite supper of left over burgers.
Well I must say after watching the accompanying video to the book by Platt we let our feelings be known about what is happening to this once Christian nation/culture that is surely slipping away due to the secular progressives and politically correct crowd in both the government and promulgated by the mainstream media. We had a lively discussion about two topics that are almost daily in the news regarding same sex marriages and abortions which 50 years ago were at the most back burner topics and thought never to be considered in the fore front of our news. That is now changing as the left is pushing these topics that weaken our principles as well as our faith and no one is standing firm because of the ridicule that comes with taking a stand as being homophobic and racist as well as not giving women the right to do with her body as she see's fit. Interesting discussion with the young millennial's(Danielle and Neal) in our group.
We headed home around 9'ish to finish up the last hour of the Idol show and then it was time for a shower and some some horizontal lab, LATER
