Well the weather here in the mountains has it rather chilly to start the day and at times stayed that way with the cloud cover but when the sun finally broke through the clouds it was rather nice and comfortable. There was another rain shower during the evening but thankfully it never lasted other than a few minutes shy of an hour.
I started the day much the usual since its just Nancy and I once again and of course Rocky. I did my usual routines but did hold off on the cup of tea until after she got out of bed so as not to disturb both her and Rocky. I did my quiet time to honor my Creator and Lord a well as lifting up several for comfort and healing. Speaking of Rocky who snores so loud we can not hear the TV at times. He loves being outside and it was sad at times to see him staring down the driveway looking for his family but he is slowly adjusting to us and his appetite has suddenly gone through the roof which before he never ate much of his puppy food.
I took him for a couple walks around the property and then we took him on an abbreviated hike up the steep back trail and along the back road but didn't go to the top. He does like to wonder around in the back woods from time to time and does hear neighbor Gerald down below, but so far hasn't ventured down that way. I'm afraid if I introduce him to Gerald and Phylis he may just meander down when ever he hears them outside.
I finished a good read and now have another waiting at the local library as I'm getting some down time with Rocky. I don't go near the gardens which are fenced when he is around as he thinks it just the place to walk through. I have lots of marigold and zinnias seedlings breaking ground and his big paws just destroys them. I've saved most of the larger flowering plants with makeshift fencing thus far but he has to be right under foot whenever I visit the unfenced flower beds, oh well.
We are still cleaning up leftovers from the past several big meals with the Ross Family and just one more meal with leftover steak to go. We will head to town today and pick up some goodies at the Food Lion which is the only grocery in town as well as a library and produce stand stop for more bedding plants. I did notice where some lettuces seedlings are are showing some color so I will transplant them into 6 packs as soon as they get another couple leaves. I still have the upper garden fallow as of right now and will put my lettuces, Swiss chard and kale plants there this year as I have the tomato's and peppers in the back yard beds which I have a fence around. I did learn one thing about the black raspberries at the old Browning Place; they never cut them back. Their berry bushes are loaded with fruit and are huge whereas I cut mine back last Fall and they are barely knee high with no fruit set, so I'll take their example next Fall.
Well the Lightning who has a 2-0 lead in games lost at home in overtime against the Hurricanes of N.C. 3-2, oh well lets hope we come back like we did against the Panthers in the first round of the playoffs, LATER
Rocky looking down the driveway for his family. He is such a big goof ball.
