Friday Morning July 2nd

Well we sure got the rain yesterday starting in the afternoon and I mean it "gully washed" at times and rained through out the night. I think its supposed to rain for most of the day as well today(Fri.) The morning was nice with plenty of warm sunshine and blue skies as I hung a load of laundry outside while we went to Galax looking for jelly making materials.

I started the day much the usual with a before 6 roll out to my cup of green tea while I posted this ramble then spent some quiet time with my Creator and Lord in thanksgiving and then lifting several up by name for healing and comfort. All seem as well as can be expected due to age and health issues. A local church feller had successful brain surgery in Winston on Monday and thus far he seems to be doing O.K. or at least he came through the surgery. Our "mountain mom" Helen's son is visiting with her after a good trip  as he drove up from down where we live in Florida.

I got in my non stop before breakfast hike to the top of the mountain and I'm glad I got in at least one hike for the day as the afternoon hike was washed out. In between rain showers after lunch I transplanted the zinnias from the backwoods bed into the portrait fence bed as all of the seeds I sowed in that bed never germinated. I then took some of the many marigold seedlings and moved them in the bed where the zinnias were initially. I did transplant a half dozen leafy kale seedlings into the upper garden bed and hoed around those plants in that bed. The heavy rain fall didn't start until late afternoon, luckily after I did most of my transplanting. I have green tomato's on all the 4 tomato plants and the pepper plants I brought up from Florida that were volunteers in my compost pile now have buds and hopefully will produce.

Well it looks as if the "music on the main" in Sparta will be a wash out with this rain this evening. We were planning on attending and then eating out after running some late afternoon errands. We did speak with son Bobby on the way home from Galax and they will be here a week from today Friday for a week in the mountains. They will have to divide their time with Katie's family in Boone/Blowing Rock. We are so looking forward to seeing them and loving up on the those grand kiddo's. Well I found a new Alone series on the History channel and since there were no sports on the TV, I settled into that for a couple hours before bedtime. I do have 3 books awaiting for pick up at the library I ordered which usually fills the void when there is nothing on the tube, LATER

Wow what a heavy down pour.
