Friday Morning

Well Thursday had it ups and downs as we got together one last time with her small group for a magnificent supper and then our home team the Lightning lost to the Penguins in game 7 who will play the Sharks in the Stanley Cup finals, oh well!!

The day started with a before 6 roll out as I had moved into the spare room early in the morning because the "band was playing" and I couldn't get any sleep after 4 AM. I had my morning cup of hot turmeric drink, did my quiet time to honor my Creator then posted this ramble before having a lite breakfast and then riding out to the Rec. for nearly two hours of pickle ball workout. We had some good play and by the time I left I had a wet shirt and head. I stopped off at the library and picked up a classic book titled A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN by Betty Smith. I read that during WWII this was one of the soldiers favorite reads they took with them to the battlefield and I must say from what I've read so far I can see why. It's a back home realistic portrayal of family life for the common folk. GREAT read so far and while it's rather lengthy I may order it from the library in N.C. so as to finish it. I don't believe I will have time as we have a lot to do as well as watch the Ross kiddos Friday and Sat. and then finish packing and lots of last minute to do's.

I headed out to the barber for a ear lowering after pickle ball then hand watered the seedlings and what is left of the gardens. Amy, GG and all the kiddos came before lunch and I took the kiddos next door to play with Roxie the pug puppy. They had a great time and of course that helped to wear the pup out as well. Carol the owner has become a very nice neighbor as well and will look out for the house while we are gone. We had deli meat sandwiches for lunch then I retired to the reading room for a couple of hours until they all left then it was get ready for our small group. I did the vacuuming and a few other honey-do's. We had potatoes in the oven baking along with the last of the carrots from the garden and Nancy made a salad. Dan and Carol brought fillets already to eat and his new method of cooking them is excellent. The meat was so tender you could cut it with a fork and perfectly prepared at medium rare. Patrick and Kathryn brought some 'taters fixin's as well as a birthday cake. The meal was awesome and the Tarcy's had too leave soon afterwards as they had an errand to run but the Botbyl's hung around until the end of the first period of the hockey game. We won't see them for a spell.

IT was shower time for me after the second period and the Lightning were down2-1 and that ended up as the final score. They played well during the playoffs despite not having two of their better players and just missed the finals by one game, LATER
