Sunday Morning

Well I must say what a change in the temps overnight, yikes it down into the low 50's with a very strong wind, so it must feel somewhere in the 40's with the wind chill. Saturday found us doing last minute chores as we prepare for our son Bobby, grand daughter Annsley and grand son Gabriel for a week's visit. We were afraid it maybe a little warm for them but this weather will feel like winter as they leave hot muggy Florida which has been at times in the high 90's and even higher. They will notice a big change when they reach the top of the mountain.

I started the day with my usual roll out a little before 6 and then my routines of a few quiet moments and then the posting of this ramble. We decided to have one of our favorite breakfast's with sausage patties, grits and free range eggs, yeow the yolk is pure orange in color and so tasty. After breakfast I headed out to check on the gardens for slug damage as we had about 3/10th of an inch of rain over night which was much appreciated and needed. The forecast was for rain the whole the day(Sat) but somehow most of it went around us except for a few sprinkles throughout the day.

I fired up the mower and gave the yards a mowing then used the weed whacker to make it look even better. Nancy was in the kitchen making her famous spaghetti sauce using fresh oregano and thyme from the garden. I could smell it as I worked outside. The temps never got out of the middle 70's and was just a perfect day for working outside. We saw very little of the sun as the morning was very foggy and then it just stayed cloudy most of the day. We got the cabin ready with another good cleaning; vacuuming, dusting and lots of sweeping. We were ready for our guests and then by early afternoon Patrick and Kathryn came by and we tried out the Saddle Mountain Cafe for the first time in years.

Well since the cafe changed hands we heard the food was excellent and they are even on Face Book with their daily specials which are quite reasonable and plentiful. We got there somewhere around 5 and the parking lot was full. I had to double park for a few minutes until a spot opened up. We saw several Cornerstone folks eating there as well along with a couple of folks we know from the community. Well we each ordered something different except Patrick and I had the Lexington style barbecue with hush puppies and fries, Nancy had fish and fries and Kathryn a Philly cheese sub. Yikes the food was very tasty and just enough especially with dessert. They served hand packed ice cream and I had a cup of the black cherry which is awesome, Nancy had chocolate and Kathryn a mixture of both vanilla and chocolate.

We took a side road on the way back to the cabin and showed them some beautiful places along the road they see from the top of our mountain which runs parallel to the parkway. We were back by 7:30 and got into a game of Euchre. Well finally the guys spanked the gals in a heated shoot out third rubber game. It was bragging rights for a few minutes but of course we were ridiculed with the accusation of being less than honest. In other words we caught them cheating at times and then they turned it around and accused us, oh well!! It was a raucous fun time and we always delight in each others company.

On a more somber note we learned our friends in Elk Creek, Va. the Carlan's must have had a tornado go through their area overnight as several huge trees were uprooted on to cars and houses causing considerable damage as well as rain blew up and under the roof into their attic. One huge oak that was completely uprooted was estimated at 16 feet in diameter, yikes. The Tracy's headed over to help them with the clean up Saturday morning and Sam and Marcia mentioned it was quite frightening for awhile as the storm struck.

Well today is corporate worship day and with all that is happening in our culture we need to be on our knees seeking forgiveness for those who make ungodly decisions for the rest of us and hope that our Creator will heal our land. Never in my life time have I seen so much change and its definitely not good for our people. Things that were bad and evil are now good and justified by political correctness. We kill the weak and unborn with tax payer money, the homosexuals can now marry and cause havoc with those who refuse to accept this abomination, we are experiencing our law enforcement personnel being excoriated and the lifting up of criminals to hero status, and the race baiters causing strife in the communities for personal gain and last but not least we have taken GOD out of everything in our society and culture that was founded on the principles set forth in the Bible. Wake Up America, LATER
