Well Saturday was mainly rain free until late evening around 5 when the skies opened up again just as our dinner guests arrived. We saw periods of bright sunshine throughout the day, enough so we could hang two loads of laundry on the line to dry. I started the day with a 7'ish roll out and after my quiet time and the posting of this ramble I headed out to check on the gardens for any deer damage. We have been seeing lots of deer signs in the yard and yesterday on our way up the back trail we spotted several large wild turkeys.
We saw no one on our hike across the mountain and noticed Norm's place was shut up. Maybe some of his family came and got him and took him with them. He did not need to be left alone after these past couple days after having severe health issues. We headed on back down to a lite lunch of salad as we were having "beer can" chicken for supper. I put two large whole chickens stuffed with fresh rosemary and thyme and then a half can of beer on a stand in the smoker loaded with peach wood. Wow did that ever smell good for the next 6 hours as the smoke emanated throughout the area. Our taste buds were salivating when I pulled the birds out for carving. The meat pulled off of the bones and the white meat which is usually dry was so moist and delicious.
Nancy had a large pan of fresh asparagus and baked sweet taters and along with neighbor Gerald's salad and the Hudson's "buckle" cake dessert and ice cream we feasted. Nancy started everyone off with a cheese plate and crackers and there was some vino to wet the palette as well. After eating we played 3 games of Sequence which was a first to everyone but us and the guys won for a change, 2-1. Anyhow we had a fun evening and everyone headed out around 9'ish. We cleaned up the dishes then I settled into the Fox Special on what really happened at Benghazi and how we (the administration)let 4 Americans perish at the hands of a well orchestrated attack on our embassy. Obama and Clinton lied, obfuscated and made up a phony cover story in an attempt to blame the attack on a video about Muslims.
Well it wasn't long afterwards it was shower time and then a few chapters with another Sandra Brown book. She is a fine writer and her stories are some of the best I've ever read for novels. Each page is exciting and filled with intrigue, LATER
