Well Monday Memorial Day was a typical hot and humid day in sunny Florida. Temps reached the middle 90's and by late evening we had a tremendous thunder storm with a gully washer down pour of rain. We sure needed the rain as this is usually our dry season. I started the day off with a before 6 wake up and then after my usual few quiet moments and the posting of this ramble I decided to get all of the before leaving for the cabin house chores out of the way since we were not having anyone for lunch or supper. I vacuumed the house, cleaned the fans and then shampooed the carpets. That kept me busy right up to lunch time. Mean while Nancy was cleaning out the fridge and deciding what can and dry goods we needed to take with us and what to leave with Amy.
After a lunch of salad I piddled around in the yard and garden while Nancy took off to Target for some stuff she needed. It was blazing outside so after opening up some bagged leaves to cover the garden and protect my earthworms I headed in to watch a little of the French Tennis Open. We were heading to Amy and Tyler's for supper and we picked up GG on the way. We dined on unbelievably delicious smoked St. Louis ribs and along with a pot of the last of collards I had cooking since noon. We had Nancy's oven taters and there was fresh corn on the cob. GG made two very good apple pies each with a different crust but both were to die for along with vanilla ice cream. I skipped the ice cream but did sample each pie.
After eating Tyler and I took the kiddos outside where they jumped on the trampoline and rode scooters. Eliza Faye wants to be right in there with big kids and she just loves it outside. They had to give her another bath as she had one earlier before we came but being outside she is drawn like a magnet to dirt. We settled into the Ray's game during the rain storm and as soon as it let up we headed out to drop GG off ay her house. The water was running like a river down their street but when we got to GG's about 5 miles or so away the streets were basically dry.
Well the Ray's lost their third straight game despite some decent pitching but several of their key players are now on injured reserve. They are either tied with the Yanks or a close second in the division but the future isn't looking good with so many players hurt. The Lightning will play the Rangers tonight in Tampa and hopefully close out this series with a win and then move on to the Stanley Cup finals.
We are down to two wake ups before heading out on our trip to the mountains on Thursday. I have to have an injection into the bursae in my left shoulder today as I just can not get that joint back to being pain free. I'm able to work but certain movements cause me to cringe with pain. This evening we have to attend Betsy's youngest son Garrett's graduation from high school at the Safety Harbor Spa in Oldsmar. Tomorrow morning I will play my last pickle ball at the rec for a few months and then finish up the last few outdoor projects before packing our bags and loading the truck, LATER
