Well I must say we had a very interesting day that took us back to Galax, Va for another day of shopping and then to downtown Sparta, N.C for more shopping and finally for a supper at the River Rock Grille. The day also saw us with rain showers off and on during the day and into the late evenings as I write this ramble I can hear the rain on the tin roof. This weather has really cooled the temperature down into the 50's and it has some of us wearing jackets,long sleeves and even long pants. I think this is perfect weather but would like a little more sunshine as we will be having company later this week and then the big wedding on Saturday in Winston-Salem.
We started the day with a 6 'ish roll out and after our quiet times and a lite breakfast I headed to squash slugs and to spread some poison in and around the garden. This damp wet weather is just perfect for their reproduction and their voracious appetite for my garden veggies. Yikes I try to go organic but if I don't find a way to kill these slimy critters there will be nothing to harvest as they can eat a whole plant in one night especially the small seedlings.
We headed to Wal-Mart and then Lowes and to another furniture store looking for the perfect microwave oven and found none to meet our specifications of size and color. Our old one had only about 3 or 4 numbers still working on the keypad and while it still worked it was time to replace it. After stocking up once again we headed home without an oven. After a quick lunch we got ready to meet up with Dan, Carol and Kathryn in Sparta where eventually Patrick would join us around 5:30 for supper. We did the touristy thing and did find at the Farmers Hardware the oven to just fit our needs; perfect size(due to the cabinet I had built on rollers) and Nancy wanted white to match our appliances. It was the only oven in the store and while it was a bit more in cost it was worth it with the help of everyone's opinion.
We had supper at the River Rock which for Sparta is the "yuppy" eatery along with Beccas Coffee shop where everyone had frappicinos earlier. We saw lots of familiar faces as well as Becca and husband Matt came in to eat while we were there. Our group had a mixture of grilled chicken breasts, tuna, crab cakes(which weren't fixed to our liking and sent back), fish and chips and I had a range fed hamburger steak with all the trimmings. The cooks up here really fail to use enough spices and while everything looked great, fresh and plentiful it was lacking something all except for the deep fried potato chips dipped in ranch dressing. We were the first in attendance to dine but shortly thereafter the place filled up and our server was exceptionally friendly and on the ball.
I initially while the gals and Dan shopped headed to the library for a couple reads and then joined up with them later at one of the galleries before heading to eat. We came back to Patrick and Kathryn's rental cabin to view the the video by Johnathan Cahn on the Shemitah and the fulfilling of this 3,000 year old mystery that pertains to us here in America. He wrote THE HARBINGER and now the book on Shemitah which will bring the hair up on the back of your neck with the prophecy of what is happening with this upcoming year of the jubilee in Sept. and Oct. Check it out and if your not one to believe in the end times this may convince with the historical record that has been fulfilled right down to predicting the day and time of 9-11 occurring by the terrorist. It's GOD giving us(USA) a chance to redeem ourselves through JESUS as he did his chosen people of Israel. The world has changed so much with political correctness and our falling away from the Biblical principles set forth. Now what was once bad or evil in our society is now the norm and good. We had better wake up as a nation before it's too late but there is always hope with GOD through Jesus as the Bible tells us to "confess our sins and turn from our wicked ways and he will heal our land".
