Monday was a perfect day for November and for working outside in the yard and gardens. I managed to spend most of the day outside until late afternoon when we made a Home Depot trip for veggie seedlings, etc. as we took GG home on the way.
The day started with me rolling out around 6'ish or a little after as I want to get back to being at the rec around 7:30 for some pickle ball play. I did my quiet time with a cup of green tea, posted this ramble then had a glass of concentrated vegetable and fruit juice for my breakfast. I'm hoping to reduce this spare tire this winter. I headed out to the back yard where I clipped the bushes and began stripping the garden of the weeds and grass that invaded the gardens while we were at the cabin for the last month or so.
I spaded up several areas for seeds and got the beds ready for the romaine lettuce, cabbage and Brussel sprouts seedlings we picked up later in the day. I also picked up a rosemary seedling, cilantro and sweet basil seedling as we use a lot of these herbs in cooking and salads. I bought some sweet onions seedlings that were looking pretty bad and they gave me a deal on 2 for 1 as they were starting to rot around the edges but I think I can save them. Nancy picked out red and purple salvia flowers to be planted in the front yard around the hedges. I will plant them later today(Tuesday).
Amy, Sam and GG came for lunch and we had a fresh salad with leftover cold chicken on top and wow was that ever tasty. Afterwards Sam and I headed outside where we spent a couple hours spading up the side garden and sowing carrots and then we played with the soccer ball. I got him to catching the ball consistently and now he is kicking it much better than just a few weeks ago. He is such a bundle of energy. After they left to pickup Ava at school we headed out for our shopping trip along with driving GG home.
I grilled a couple bone-in pork chops and they were delicious along with some oven taters and canned peas for supper. The front yard was starting to dry out so I set the sprinkler and then worked for a couple hours while watching the news and then the Bucs once again lose a big lead and fall behind the Dolphins. I was so disgusted with their play as they were behind when I turned the lights out at 11, LATER
.. Just an update on our friend Joe in the mountains as he is getting for surgery on his gall bladder as I post this ramble, thankfully his daughter who is a doctor decided he needed to have better care and took him with her to Tennessee. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he is 86.
