Well Sunday turned out to be another beautiful and dry day after a rather hard rain during the night on Saturday. I heard Nancy get up and shut most of the windows sometime during the early morning hours and the rain gauge showed nearly 4 tenths of an inch of the wet stuff. We need a week of hot dry weather to get back to summertime conditions especially for the garden plants. Anyhow back to Sunday's happenings. We did our respective quiet times, had our hot drinks and then did oatmeal before getting ready to head out for worship with our mountain family and friends at Cornerstone Church.
Pastor B had a good message on the series of "stress busters" with the emphasis on the 23rd Psalm. The music was awesome as well. Many of our friends were either away on a mini vacation or under the weather as we usually fill up a row of seats; however there were just 4 of us who sat together and afterwards we went out to lunch at the yuppie restaurant in this 2 traffic light town. The River Rock Grille is much like a Chili's or TGIF Friday's with the menu. The young lady who took Bobby horse back riding last week ate with us along with her male friend. We had a nice lunch then did some shopping in town as we waited for one of Nancy's prescriptions to be filled at the local drug store. It was after 2 before we got back out to the cabin and then I tuned into the Rays vs the Giants game on the Internet. The Rays won again in a close game.
I had made arrangements with 4 other guys for a pickle ball match at 6:30 so I skipped the hike to the top of the mountain. Nancy was reading and sun bathing on the deck while I chilled watching the game. I wasn't hungry after the lunch of nachos slathered with chili, cheese, salsa, sour cream and jalapenos on top. I headed out riding with neighbor Gerald a little after 6.
We played pickle ball until nearly 9 PM under the lights and the conditions were ideal. With 5 players you got a 5-10 minute break every 5th game and we played rally scoring so the games went fast. I still managed to work up a sweat despite the cool, dry conditions. These guys love the game as I do and we have made plans to play again next week in the evening. That's about it for this laid back day with some recreation thrown in. We spoke with family in Florida and learned our son-in-law, Tyler was in New York City visiting his cousin Luke and they took in a Mets vs the Royals game in the city. I believe that was the first time he had ever been to the "big apple". It's been years since I was there and I have no desire to return anytime in the near future, LATER
