Foggy Overcast Monday Morning at the Cabin

Well Sunday was anything but a sun day as it was rain, foggy, overcast, dreary and the chill had returned as well. We once again fired up the portable heater in the cabin which made it rather cozy. We did see some very significant change to the leaf colors. I'm beginning to see the peak color change for the area is any day with all of this wet weather. If we get any wind the trees will be bare in hours as so many leaves have fallen already before their color change is complete. What leaves are still holding on are beautiful despite the less than stellar light to view them.

We started the day with a 7'ish rollout as we had church at Cornerstone at 10 AM. It was foggy and drizzle all the way to town. We had a real good turn out despite the ugly weather and it was great to hug so many after being away for the past 3 Sunday's. Old timers would have a hard time fathoming traveling to northern Virginia for worship one Sunday and the next Sunday in Florida, Yikes do we ever get around. Pastor B had a awesome message on wealth; the creation of it and the disposal of it. There is one thing for sure we will leave this world as we came in to it; but we can send some of it ahead in how we use our good fortunes here on earth to bless others.

We met up with our new good friends, Sam and Marcia for lunch along with our close friends the Dalton Family. It was good to see all as some of them had been traveling to Tennessee to visit family and Andy had been down on the coast working. Young Caleb is traveling with his school class to the Nation's Capital for a field trip and he wrote a great essay for the privilege to honor the tomb of the unknown soldier with a wreath ceremony. I think of all we saw this past summer in D.C. this stands out as the most honorable occasion in this city of dishonorable politicians.

We stayed at the eatery for another hour or so catching up on all that had been going on in their lives. They have plugged right in to Cornerstone with Sam involved in the Top Gun Class and Marcia in the women's Bible study and she also plays in a hand bell choir with a group from Independence, Va. where they will do a concert in Mt.Airy in the near future. We are thrilled they have found a church home as they are very interesting and great folks. We foresee a great friendship with them in the years to come. We headed out to check one of our favorite spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway for taking pictures at the Old Mill Pond. Well so had several others travelers stopped to photograph this beautiful scene with the colorful trees reflecting on the pond surface. So many trees had already lost their leaves and the dismal atmosphere made for faded out pictures but Nancy captured what was left of their beauty.

We got a message from a friend on top of the mountain that she needed to have her cabin checked after her daughter was unsure if she unplugged the coffee pot when she returned to Charlotte after spending the week-end. We put on our gum boots, coats and hats

and headed out in the drizzle and fog. The coffee pot was unplugged but the outside lights were burning brightly so we made that correction and then headed back down the mountain. I wanted to hike and we had earlier made excuses to not go out in this mess but now we got in a good hike albeit we cut it short from crossing the top. We came back and settled into the tube; football for me and Nancy on FB. The Bucs stunk up the field once again with a big loss and the Panthers were lucky to survive a loss with a tie to the Bengals. I watched about 2/3 rds of the baseball game before I started to nod off so it was hot shower time and then a few chapters with a new Sandra Brown book, LATER
