Well I must say Saturday was another perfect day in the mountains with awesome weather and the temps were why we come to the cabin for the summer. Low 60's to start the day and upper 70's with bright sunshine and Carolina Blue skies, WOW is all I can say. The birds were singing and the perfumed air by the wild flowers that bloom this time of the years was intoxicating.
I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my routines; however I hold off on the tea and my vitamin intake since Rocky sleeps in his cage in the front room until Nancy awakens which is some where around 8'ish. Rocky is a great sleeper and even a better snorer. At times he and Nancy sound alike, oh well. I really haven't done much hard physical work since I hurt my right hand on the first Tuesday after getting here as I'm trying to help with the healing and keeping the dirt out of the cut and away from infection. It's finally starting to heal but very slowly and I can do some work but mainly left handed and with the right hand bandaged and wearing a glove; so I've been doing a lot of reading and thats basically what I did on Saturday except for walking with Rocky several times and some small chores. I started the book LONESOME DOVE again which has over 800 pages and I'm already nearly half way through. I love this story and could easily slide into that time frame and do what the story is mainly about, the western scene before technology. I love to reread this story about every 10 years and the mini series on TV is a must whenever it shows, oh well.
I did transplant some bedding plants into the ground and did some repotting as well. Everything looks pretty good despite not giving the gardens much attention because if I do when Rocky is outside he is in the garden and beds, oh well. He has been fun but does limit us to what we can do outside with the plants. I do like coming these couple of weeks earlier than usual to the cabin as the peonies are still blooming and their fragrance is delicious. The iris's are blooming as well as are the wild azaleas which the old timers here call honeysuckle. I have a couple in the woods we can see from the back porch. They are a bright orange.
Well I tuned into the Ray's and the Lightning games which started about the same time around 4'ish. Luckily Tyler set up the MLB app on my laptop so I can watch the Ray's live anytime they are playing and of course I had the Lightning on the TV screen. Both teams won yesterday and the Lightning are one game away from heading to the next round in the playoffs. The Carolina team is tough and had a two goal lead at one time but the Bolts came back and won by two goals. We had fried squashes for our supper which was delicious after a lunch of left over steak on a wrap. All of the leftovers are now gone.
Well today is Sunday and we will attend Cornerstone in Sparta for worship with our mountain church family and renew lots of friendships as well and then meet with Jake, Katelyn and Skylar for lunch afterwards. It's another great day with those who love GOD, Family and America, LATER
