Wednesday Morning

Well Tuesday found us once again with just incredible weather. It was in the low 70's, NO humidity and bright sunshine all day. Wow, I do love these mountain days here in the flatland, yet the mountains are having some of the coldest weather ever for this time of the year. Snow is in the forecast once again and a hard freeze. There goes the fruit trees and the spring flowers which we seldom see blooming in the mountains but the cherries and peaches will probably be less plentiful.

The day started much the usual for me with a 6'ish roll out. I did my routine quiet time with my Creator and the posting of this ramble, a breakfast of fruit and cereal before riding out to the Rec. for two hours of pickle ball play. Our numbers have really dropped as many northerns have return back home. We still had three courts in action and our challenge court had enough players to keep the action continuous. I had a wet shirt by the time I left at 10'ish.

Nancy mentioned our cabin neighbor Gerald called and the local phone company was going to be installing our underground cable(FIOS) for the phone, internet and TV next week to the cabin. I sure hope they have the bugs worked out with this system as I will have to make a decision as to drop Direct TV as well as my modem for the internet. It's hard to believe we will have that service in the mountains and not in our neighborhood here in Seminole, oh well! I harvested more lettuce and collards and blessed our neighbors with this bounty from the garden. I also harvested another batch of lettuces and kale for our salad bowl as well as several tomato's, sugar peas and carrots. The sweet Texas onions are really bulbing out as well. I started another rosemary plant as well as a thyme plant to give away and to take to the cabin in June.

Well Amy, GG and Eliza Faye came for a lunch of leftover Italian bean soup which was awesome in flavor. I still think this is my favorite soup as I'm a legume lover. The flavor is similar to Zuppa Toscano but no cream or potatoes. I think its the Italian sausage flavor I love, anyhow we cleaned up it up. I had thawed out a package of cubed pork steaks our friends the Anderson blessed us with. They had killed a few months back a couple of wild hogs and the meat was delicious. Nancy pan fried it for supper along with fresh asparagus. After the cleanup we spoke with our "mountain mom" Helen and she was beside herself with the cold temps. The mountain flowers are up and beautiful but the extreme cold will probably kill them; despite it being warm for a couple of days now its so cold she can't get outdoors and do any work. Where are all the climate change followers?

Well I tuned into the Ray's game at 7 and watched a hard fought game that finally saw the home town team win a close one that ended with a controversial play. Thankfully the camera's showed a Jays player grabbing a Ray's player leg to break up a game ending double play. After a review the umps called player interference and the runner was out and game over. I missed the final in the NCAA basketball game as the last second shot by Villanova sent N.C. home in defeat, yikes what a shot that won the game for them, LATER
