Monday

Well despite all of the rain the night before and the cloudy overcast skies for most of the day it cleared off and the warm sunshine welcomed us most of the afternoon and evening. Our company arrived somewhere around 5 o'clock after a couple hour layover in Charlotte to visit with our nephew Austin his wife Megan and their 5 day old baby boy Tyler. It was good to see Arianne the new bride of just over a month, GG, Nancy and Betsy's mom and of course the GAB(great aunt Betsy), Nancy's sister. The party began shortly after we got their bags stowed away and sleeping arrangements were made about who would be where. GG did great going up and down our steep stairs but we made her promise to seek help coming down as they are rather steep. We even put the child proof gate up so she wouldn't wonder around in her sleep and make an attempt to descend down stairs.

We cut some cheese and crackers and along with some fruit of the vine we walked around on the deck and tried our luck with the BB gun on the 7 targets that are in the back yard. There were a few lucky shots considering the skill level amongst them but we are easily entertained when the purple is plentiful. We shared stories and pictures of the new baby Tyler and made plans to head down on Wednesday and take the new parents some "soul food"  Everett style as per the new poppa's request. Arianne's new hubby Errol will be arriving during the midnight hours from Miami so they will spend the night on Wednesday and then drive back the next day.

I tossed some marinated chicken breasts on the grille and Nancy fired up the oven for a delicious yellow squash casserole and then I added some nasturtium leaves and flower to the salad bowl along with fresh basil and it was the first time for most who ventured to try them. Yeow, do they ever spark up your salad bowels. We had ginger snaps for dessert. After the cleanup the gals wondered around outside until it was time to play a new game that Arianne brought.

Well LOGO is a blast and it's for all ages. Its a game where you see specific jingles and phrases associated with products, events and people. It was a blast and we can't wait to play it again. Arianne won with me as a close second but all of us were in contention. It was going on 11 PM when I called it a night and headed for the shower. GG headed for bed and the girls headed for the porch to talk until the wee hours. The rain came upon some time after I hit the pillows and once again made music on the tin roof, LATER
