Well Tuesday was a great day of firsts as we spent the day in this beautiful lowland city and the folks we've met here are fantastic. I only saw one instance of bad behavior and that was from a drunken group of millennial's last evening as we walked back to where our truck was parked and that happened when a marked police unit drove past but other than that everyone was so cordial. Either way we leave this morning (Wed.) as planned and not because we are being told by the governor to evacuate due to this major hurricane which is in the Caribbean and is heading towards the east coast of the states. They are just a few feet above sea level and will receive lots of high water even if the winds don't cause any destruction. The old city has stood for centuries and it looks as if once more she may have to be vigilant in the face of this monster storm.
Well I'm going to cut this short as we get ready and head out in an hour or so. We want to get ahead of those evacuating plus get back to the cabin and get it ready after being gone for nearly two weeks. After our quiet time to honor and give thanks for the many blessings and lift up those we know and love we will leave this beautiful place and her people. There is something almost magical about this area of the country. We would live here in a moment as it's that nice.
I must mentioned after a luxurious dinner last evening at the Anson Eatery in the historic district we decided to walk around and peruse the many shoppes that where still open and we met a fantastic couple close to my age on the street corner. We ended up having a late drink at a local sports bar with huge TV's sharing our stories and then walking to their respective residences. Both are single and met in church and we so enjoyed talking and walking these streets with them and their residence are in fabulous locations in the city. We shared emails with them and now when we come back to this beautiful city we will have a contact. Judith is from Canada and Rolf is from Chicago and they too met here in the city.at a local church. They and their stories are fascinating and are such lovely folks and made us feel so at home in the sharing of one another's lives. Both are grandparents and are best of friends and live in different sections of the city of which they shared with us.
Well I will close for now as we get ready to head north to the mountains. I will share later about the perks we received from giving just a few moments of our time, LATER
