Well Wednesday started out with a before 6 rollout to my routines that begin with some quiet times to honor my lord, Jesus, give thanks for another day and then to lift up several by name for comfort and healing, all seem to be holding with this post. I headed out to stretch on the back porch before walking around the property checking on the gardens and flower beds for deer damage and thankfully none was evident or at least no new damage. There was still plenty old damage but those plants are still holding and renewing some growth.
I had a hearty breakfast of grits, eggs, jalapeno and a tomato all cut up and mixed together in a bowl which was delicious to say the least and for lunch it was a fresh cucumber, tomato and some sliced cheese and then for our supper I grilled deer burgers and we had our first mess of fresh beets, yeow did we ever eat healthy for the day and then to top that off we hiked the mountain around 11'ish. So we did good except for cleaning up the last of the oatmeal, coconut, chocolate chip cookies of which I had 4 mid afternoon while we watched the LLWS from 1 on, until 9. Needless to say we love those games and our one team we pulled for made a miracle comeback in the extra inning after going down 6 to 1. Well South Carolina came back and won 7 to 6 when all they could do was score 1 run through 6 innings and then went down by 5 runs to South Dakota. What a finish to the day and they will play in the USA championship game against Connecticut on Saturday.
I did some small garden chores during the morning after breakfast and before we hiked and then it was chill after lunch. We did get a small shower before supper which wasn't much considering all the thunder and dark clouds, but it gave everything a small drink as I was considering hand watering once again. I'm harvesting several tomato's daily now as well as yellow squash and tons of jalapeno's and a few cucumbers. They have just about dried up so I've been hand watering them daily in hopes to get another couples weeks worth of fruit. The half runner beans are setting as well and I will pick them again tomorrow and the October beans the deer nearly ate to the ground are making a come back since I put up a fence around the vines and I even noticed a couple small beans have set. The 9 hills of red taters are doing great as well and I gave them a little fertilizer and hoed around the hills loosening the soil. I started these tatters from peelings and the plants are a foot tall now and hopefully will produce some fruit.
Well after the final out in the LLWS game I hit the shower and then read until after 10'ish. Today we head to Sparta for Nancy's hair appointment and then back again in the evening for our couples class. Bobby called last evening and wants us all to celebrate next years 80th birthday for me on an Alaskan cruise. Amy is still not sure about them but I assured her I would foot their costs and now the issue is Rocky with what to do with him, anyhow its early and he just brought it up to see if we were interested . We years ago had the trip planned when covid hit and we had to cancel, LATER
