Well this year is moving along and soon it will be close to thinking about heading back to the cabin. I'm already getting excited about that prospect. Monday was an eventful day especially as we ate supper with GG and then took her with us to Bridgepoint Church where we were throughly blessed with the childrens choir from Uganda, Africa called SOZO. Wow did they ever lead us in worship and their personal testimonies were heartwarming. All of these kids are orphans. There were 17 kids in this group and they leave behind a total of 121 kids in this village that is sponsored by many churches and ours in particular. They are on a 4 month tour of America telling their story and getting sponsorship for their mission of helping lost and orphan kids achieve a better life and doing it within the culture of their country of Uganda.
The day started with my usual before 6'ish roll out. I had my hot tea with some turmeric before dong my quiet time and then an apple for breakfast before riding out to the Rec. on my bike for close to two hours of pickle ball play. I never sat down or lost a game for the first hour or so and had a wet shirt as a result. It was great to be back doing some physical activity after being at the table for most of the weekend. I've decided to make a concerted effort this week to work on the spare tire reduction so no desserts and I'm even forgoing my usual glass of red wine before supper to see if that makes any difference, Oh well!!
I stopped off at the library on my way home for a couple new reads. It had really warmed up after a somewhat chilly start for the day. I harvested 4 kinds of fresh lettuces, kale, beet greens and cleaned them for a huge fresh garden salad. Amy brought Eliza by while she and GG grocery shopped and Nancy was at the doctors for for some tests. She and I played and watched her favorite movie Home until Nancy got back then they jelled together. I headed out to hand water the gardens and by then Amy and GG were here for lunch. We had salad loaded with deli meats and sandwiches. I headed out after lunch to the garden as I wanted to transplant my Bibb lettuces seedlings. Many of them had at least 4 leaves and were about 2-3 inches in height. I managed to transplant 24 out of 27 seedlings which is pretty good. Usually I lose more than that from seeds when transplanting.
Well GG invited us to a meat loaf supper with sweet taters' and fresh broccoli as she wanted to attend the concert with us at 7. We knew there would be a huge crowd for this event which started at 7 but the doors wouldn't open until 6:30 and it was standing room only and into an overflow room as well. We got there around 6:15 and already there were hundreds of folks waiting to get inside. I'm not sure how many were attendance or what the capacity is for the church building but I would venture to say between 1500 and 2000 were in attendance from what we could see from the balcony. It was nearly a 2 hour performance and very worshipful with their culture on display and their love for Jesus. Most of them spoke broken English and many spoke of their plight in life before coming to the SOZO community to live. They are educated, housed and treated as a family despite their being without parents who are dead or have just left them to fend for themselves. A member of our church started this mission and was on hand to tell us of his desire to make a difference after doing a mission trip to that area of Africa in 2010.
Well after dropping GG off at her house and seeing she was safe for the night we headed home and I tuned into the final period of the Lightning hockey game as they beat a Toronto team 2-1 after playing on Sunday afternoon in Boston. I don't know how these players manage to play so hard in back to back games. They are truly great athletes. Well after a hot shower it wasn't long after 10'ish I was ready for some horizontal lab, LATER
