Sunday Morning

Well let me say first off the first day of August here in the mountains seemed like the first day of Fall. Wow, was it ever a beautiful sunny day with no humidity and the morning temps were in the 50's and never got much beyond the middle 70's. It was just beautiful with a gentle breeze at times bringing the sweet smell of the blue spruce trees in the front yard. Yikes it would be hard to ask for any better day and it says according to the forecast we are in store for a couple more days just like yesterday. Our neighbors, the Heglar's held a wedding reception for one of their grand daughters at the cabin where we go creekin' yesterday afternoon and evening and what a perfect day for that special occasion.

Well the morning started out with a sleep in for me until nearly 7 o'clock, wow that was a first in a long time. I think all of the physical work on Friday had me worn out so it felt to good to get that extra time in the horizontal position. We did a mountain breakfast with bacon cooked on the grill, leftover taters from the other night and a couple brown eggs, of course I added a jalapeno pepper to mine which really awakened the taste buds and a glass of orange juice to wash it down. All of this gastronomic delight took place after our quiet times and the posting of this ramble somewhere around 9'ish or a little after.

We decided to take our hike after hanging a couple loads of laundry outside on the clothesline. There is something about down home life when seeing clothes flapping in the breeze and the clean smell of the sun drying them is awesome, plus I like the fact it doesn't add to my power bill. We saw Sarah on top of the mountain as we hiked with her little fuzz ball Lexie. We visited for a few then headed on across and stopped and chatted with the Browning's and loved up on Zeke. Zeke is starting to show his age and he gets so excited when we visit and wants to walk with us for a short distance before quickly turning back for home. Jetta did a beautiful job on repairing Nancy 15 year old quilt which had some sun damage near the top. It's almost new like in appearance. We stopped and visited a few with our newest neighbor Eddie who runs a large leather and silver works place just down off the mountain and is just a nice person.

We headed on back down the mountain and noticed who ever tried to get their large vehicle up the golf cart trail the day before and crushed a couple small trees into the roadway had come back with a chainsaw and removed the trees. It's a wonder their vehicle didn't overturn as these trees saved them. It must have been someone not from around here. They sure left some of their blue paint on these trees and I'm sure some damage as well. We never heard anyone or a chainsaw during the morning hours but did hear neighbor Gerald mowing around his place as he and his new bride Karyl where down for the weekend. We managed to stop and visited for a few minutes with them later in the afternoon as we took a trip out to the mailbox on the golf cart.

Well we ate lite for supper with a fresh garden salad as I once again harvested beet greens, 2 types of lettuces, Swiss chard, spinach and kale along with fresh cucumbers. Yeow is all I can say about these fresh home grown veggies and we finished the bakery bread with real Amish butter that Dee blessed us with last week on her visit here. Yikes is that ever delicious!!

Well we sat around and read for an hour or so then I hand watered some of the garden that was needing a little moisture. We noticed the burned brush pile still had some live coals down into the ground so we hand carried several containers of water to extinguish them. We sat on the front porch as dusk settled in and was entertained by the blue grass band playing at the wedding reception down in the holler as the sound traveled up the mountain. It was almost as nice as being at the music center on the parkway as it was that clear. That went on until nearly 9 o'clock.

Well the day finally came to close around 10:30 for me after a hot shower and the last chapter in a Lee Child book. The main character Jack Reacher is a great investigator as well as very macho and fears no one and is just a good person when helping the beleaguered. There probably won't be any pictures for awhile as we are having more issues with the laptop and our picture application called Picasa. I will need to get some advice from my son-in-law Tyler who seems to be able to assist me with these computer problems, LATER

Don't forget to give thanks today with other believers at your choice of a venue where GOD is still honored, respected and valued and who was once an important and integral facet of our lives and especially for our nation. We have let the few secular progressives dictate the agenda for our people and now we see their devastating effects on our culture; no longer do we honor GOD, we kill unborn babies in a cruel manner and sell their organs, we liken the unnatural marriage of two people with the same sex and even hold in high esteem the changing of one's sex for whatever reason and now are legalizing the use of drugs that have been long banned and illegal. Thanks to those of us who elected unqualified people in positions to the government we are giving our enemies the ability to create weapons to destroy us and our allies,Wake Up America!!!
