Thursday Morning Sept 5th

Well yesterday was another beautiful day but with more summer like heat and humidity which surprises me after last weeks low in the 50's which I really thought was the beginning of Fall. We have some many trees already starting to turn to their colors that are associated with summer ending but that was not the case the past couple of days. We do need some rain but nothing like what the southeast is getting with the remnants of Dorian making its way northward.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my cup of hot green tea lace with turmeric while I posted this ramble then spent some quiet moments with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting several up by name for healing and comfort. We got a good report on Paw Paw from middle sister Pat who is his caregiver at her home in W.Va. Everyone else seems to be fine with respect to their ages and health issues. We took our "mountain mom" Helen to Galax with us around 10'ish to shop for a new fridge and then ran some errands and finally we ate lunch at a new place in town called Porky's. I was pleasantly surprised at the facility and I thought the food and selection for a buffet lunch was very good; of course no place you go prepares or seasons the vegetables the way you do at home. Their yeast rolls were decadent and every thing was hot. I even did the desert bar and the banana pudding was delicious. We all cleaned our plates and each made a trip to the salad bar, entree bar and then desserts, all for 8.99. You can not beat that price and the dinner cost in 9.99 but with more entrees. The main meat with the lunch is fried chicken which was delicious but they do have barbecue with the supper menu. It's all you care to eat as well. That held me the rest of the day.

We made a Walmart run after lunch and before gassing up and heading back to her place where we got the old fridge pulled away from the wall and I disconnected the water line to the ice maker of which the new fridge has as well as place to get water and ice from the front door. She is thrilled with her choice and they are delivering it sometime today. I cleaned the floor from under the old fridge which took some added burden from on her and now all the delivery folks have to do is hook up the water line and take the old fridge away. We got back to the cabin some time around 3'ish and I chilled as the sun was very hot. The a/c felt great as I tuned into the US Open and the path of Dorian. We have friends down on the coast who will get some of the effects of this hurricane but nothing like the Bahamas's acquired which was total destruction by the wind and water.

I played pickle ball at 6'ish with 5 other guys and that was a sweat making event. It was nice to get a rest occasionally in between games. We played for nearly two hours before calling it a night for three of us. I rode with neighbor Gerald in his BMW roadster with the top down and it was a great ride as this little car hugs the road with awesome speeds. I was whupped and sore this morning from the activity which is now only coming once a week on the court but it felt great at the time. I chilled after a hot shower and was dozing by 10'ish while watching some of the tennis play on the tube, LATER
