After my morning routines and a few quiet moments I headed out on my bike to the rec. The wind made it not only a cold ride but a difficult one as I pedaled into a strong head wind for part of the way. We had a very large turnout of players with 3 pickle ball courts in action and 8-10 waiting to get on to play. We played the winners split and then partnered up with new players after each set most of which were B players so I had an hour and half before I had to leave the court with a soaked shirt. What a great workout and I got to help with several who are novices to the game and gave them some instruction. We had 3 new guys visiting from Canada and one of them was a very good A player.
After the workout I headed home to harvest my first head of cabbage and pulled several carrots as well as harvest lettuces, beet greens, kale and sugar peas for a salad for lunch. Amy and the kiddos came for lunch without GG as she was singing with her choral group. Little Eliza Faye and Sam were wound up and I have no idea where they get all of that energy. Eliza did take a few rests while sitting on my lap watching kid videos on the computer. She mumbles and tries to talk but we just can't understand her. She is just adorable as well is Sam. He loves his peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch and also fresh veggies. He had several raw carrots and sugar peas along with some ranch dip.
I called our "mountain mom" Helen and wished her happy birthday. She is so fond of little Sammy I had him give her wishes as well. They are snowed in with brutal cold temps in the mountains and more snow in the fore cast. What a winter they are having there. We also spoke with my old friend Ray Todd and he informed me the Saddle Mountain Restaurant has sold and that Pam(neighbor) is moving back to Lexington as her husband passed away last summer. I'm wondering what she will do with the unfinished dried in cabin that sits just down the hill from us.
Well we ate lite for supper with fresh asparagus and Jasmine rice loaded with lots of fresh thyme. We were having house church at Dan and Carol's. We watched the Focus on the Family video from the series titled Truth. This hour long video was debunking the science of evolution and Darwinism. We made plans after the video about our up coming trip to Reno, Nevada next September to Kathryn's brother's rental house. We are putting together dates and looking at air fares in advance as well as a trip plan on what we want to see and visit. Nancy has never been west of the Mississippi so this will be a big trip for her. We want to visit Yellowstone and maybe take an overnighter to San Francisco if we have enough time.
I mentioned I was working on a plan for the New Life Village in Tampa for a garden for them; well
