Well Friday was another busy day that started with a well before 6 rollout to my usual morning routines that always begin after posting this ramble with some quiet moments to honor my lord, Jesus, give thanks for another day and to lift up several by name for comfort and healing. All seem to be holding with this post. I headed out after feeding Rocky the bull mastiff who at times is great company but other times he is like a hard headed kid. Now he does do one thing I like and that is pooping in the woods so I don't have to clean up his piles, but he hates anything that makes noises like golf carts, lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners and even my electric razor, oh well, plus he is the nosest animal ever with always sticking his nose into whatever your doing and if not careful he will either eat or carry off whatever your doing.
I headed over to Ann and Frank's cabin which is just through the woods to help with them planting some seeds and seedlings. He is on oxygen 24/7 and can barely function and she needs a knee replacement, so they are very limited in what they can do. We visited with them a couple days ago and I offered to dig up an area where they wanted sugar peas and blacked eyed peas sowed. I also brought them some zinnias seedlings and transplanted them into the ground as well as sowed an area with seeds. Both of them are into flowers and now mostly potted veggies and have several on their deck. We were the ones who helped them find this cabin and truly love them as neighbors which we only saw one time last week and learned of their infirmities. They are not one to ask for help or complain but once we learned of their issies they quickly accepted our assistance.
We loaded up garbage from them as well as our own and headed to Sparta to the landfill first, then the library after a stop at Alleghany Cares which is a thrift store to browse around remembering our dear friends Steve and Sheri who ran a thrift store for years as well as former neighbor Jodi, who Nancy and she visited several in the area in past years. I'm not a shopper for used items but found it very busy there and we have donated to this facility over the years. We then headed to Becca's for some bread and said hello to Matt the owner and ordered some bread for next Tuesday when the Ross Family get back from Colorado and will stay another 4 nights with us before heading back to Florida. We then headed to Food Lion for some items, one which was t-bone steaks on sale at 8.99 a pound. I grilled a couple and they were very tasty with a couple baked tatters loaded with butter, sour cream and jalapeno pepper on mine. Delicious to say the least. Nancy couldn't finish hers so I have a nice piece for either steak and eggs for breakfast or on a sandwich for lunch.
After supper and the clean up I drug out the garden hose and gave everything a drink as it was hot and very windy during the days and we noticed some of the flowers were showing some wilt. We stayed outside until 8 and then headed in to watch the Ray's lose at home and Nancy with some Dr.Pol until shower time and then some reading a new book from the library which I picked up while in town, LATER
